GPU usage is way too high for some time now!

Can confirm that a GTX1050 also has this problem, went from 35-40% usage to basically 100%(varies slightly between 98-100%). Have tried bare minimal settings and still basically maxing out the GPU. Tried rolling back to several different drivers and it still continues. the only thing that drops the GPU usage is if i hard limit my FPS to 30 or less. And i know its not my GPU cause i can run newer games on at least middle range settings. so I think this is something to do with FF14. only thing i can think up is they tried to optimize something and buggered it and now its causing a huge increase in usage.

I'm changing out to a new hard drive tomorrow so that will require a fresh install of FF14 so ill post tomorrow if that changes anything

P.S. my frames are limited to 60. Right now its dropping under it, before the problem occured it was over 100 when not limited with max settings. Just adding this, because it was mentioned^^

We did a test on our own equipment (also using an Nvidia card) and could not replicate the issue you and a few others are having. So I'm not sure if it's an Nvidia card problem. I'd like to suggest a few things:

First try a clean install of your graphics drivers, if you haven't already. You are given this option when you install your driver and selecting 'Custom Installation.'

Also, try a clean boot. You can do this by going to the task manager and selecting 'Start Up' and disabling everything on this page, then restarting the computer.

If these do not affect anything, can you provide a dxdiag and post it here in the forum?

Just tried without any Start-Up program and changed nothing, right now I'm uninstalling NVIDIA Experience completely, since it's just an optimisation and "streaming" tool from nvidia anyways. Maybe there is a mistake or something, @Einmimiria did u guys install Experience when testing the GPU? Will test around a little more and will post my dxdiag if nothing changes.

Update: Deleting Experience changed nothing. So I tried around with configs again. I tried limiting the frames, thats the only thing, that changes things. Going down on 37 frames (thats an option for me, dun ask^^") it is on around 45%, going down on 18 Frames (just for testing, thats not playable... ) it goes down to 25% usage. my highest Option is to limit it to 75, there it goes up to 90% again. Something seems amiss with the frames ingame that overloads people with a high frame-rate? And I can't mention this enough, it worked before, with unlimited frames, too! Will reinstall the drivers now, non the less!

Update 2: It definitely has something to do with the frames. Limiting them actually changes some stuff while tinkering around with the settings (like using normal settings for Notebook).

I as well have been having major issues since the last patch.

Intel i7-7700k 4.2ghz
32GB GDDR4 RAM
Gigabyte Aorus GTX 1080ti 12GB
EVGA Supernova 1100W PSU
Alienware aw3418dw

A couple of patches ago I could run this game smoothly at 110+ fps consistent at 3440x1440 in borderless windowed (running a second monitor on the side, 1080p). As of the last patch my game will instantly spike to 100% GPU utilization in task manager and suffer severe stutters in game. At one point I loaded into Ul'dah Steps of Nald and if I am looking up the steps out of the spawn room my game looked like a powerpoint slideshow, but turning away from the steps returned to normal performance. The only way that I have found to rectify this problem is to drastically neuter my game visuals (removing Stormshade, turning off HBAO+ Quality, turning off high quality model for shadows, limiting FPS to 120, running in fullscreen). Even now, it is not perfect and I will still get an occasional hiccup. After playing for an hour or two it still rises up to 100% GPU utilization and is prone to crashing.

I have rolled back my Windows 10 to prior to the last update. I have uninstalled all GPU products (Aorus GFX Engine, MSI Afterburner). I have performed a clean install of my GFX driver. Powered down and deep cleaned and released residual charge from the rig itself. Performed a clean-boot and ran only FFXIV on top of system processes.

I do not have this issue on any other game that I play/have installed. This includes Overwatch, ESO and Destiny 2.

My belief is that as of the last patch there is a major memory leak issue that needs to be found and addressed.
