Patch Notes says: "The chance of successfully reeling in fishes has been increased at fishing holes in 2.0 and 3.0 areas."
Did it include fishes like Ninja Betta? Cause it seems as bad as before to catch it, even with 1200+ Gathering...

RNG is entirely subjective....you're going to have a hard time proving anything. <Fisher here too>
One reason I hate doing anything on my fisher. Trying to get the collectable fish to get the fisher gears was a pain. Sure, I probably could have bought the crafter gears(couldn't make, and still can't because crafters are sub-60 - except CUL) but I was saving for a possibly Shirogane house at the time(still saving for when public purchases are opened up).

Unfortunately as others have said with big fish like Ninja it's about the RNG. I took the patch notes to mean that your line is going to snap less often when you do hook it rather than your mooch chains are going to be more successful. Or are you hooking Ninja and having him still snap free too often?
Problem is Ninja is gated by normal quality fish a lot, so you won't see as much chance since so much of the time is spent hooking regular fish. I think straight catch big fish might be where to test them on, like the ones in the cities.
