ARR's Relic Models Reused in New Crafted Model

With 4.25 we got some new crafted weapons. To my surprise, these weapons share the model with the final steps of the ARR relic weapons- weapon models I had assumed would be unique.

For example, the Paladin's Nightsteel Sword shares a model with the Excalibur Relic. It doesn't have the glow, no, but it's an identical model. The same can be said for the rest of the weapons in this set-- they're all the ARR relic models.

I understand it's just a model for a weapon, and maybe not a big deal to some, but people who earned their relics worked hard, and we were led to believe they would be unique. It's kind of annoying to see they're now in the game for everyone who didn't bother to do the relic quest. I'd care less if the ARR relics were somehow unobtainable now, but they are not. People are still able to do the quests and earn these items.

I don't know what I expect from this, I just wanted to voice my annoyance and irritation that this happened. Our relics are meant to be unique, or so I thought, and seeing them now available as a crafted option just rubs me the wrong way. It makes it feel like my hard work towards it meant nothing.

I hope this trend doesn't continue, that the Anima weapons won't show up as crafted knock-offs in the future, and I just wanted to say that.

While I don't disagree, I'm not sure how much of that process I'd call "work." We all know it was just a long grueling grind.

Yeah I didn’t mean to imply it was mentally taxing. Relics are usually a pretty brainless slog, but it’s still time and effort put into something.

The relic quest is nerfed quite a bit too so I guess that’s part of my frustration. I assumed the payout for that grind was a unique weapon, and it turns out it isn’t. I don’t mind others having the weapon— in fact I love seeing people use the ARR relics because they look good— just sad that I was mistaken that the relic quest would be the only avenue to obtain these weapons.

They used some of the Anima weapons for the HW classes (which have not Zodiac weapons). DRK uses Nothing. They really opened a door here that I'm not quite happy with either as getting old relics is what I do since I can't raid.

I'd probably be annoyed if they had the glows.
As it stands I don't really care. I completed the Bard Zodiac and Anima Weapons before nerfs as the patches came out and don't mind others getting similar things for less effort. It doesn't take away from the effort I put in.

Yeah, this was annoying to me too. I hope they don't do this again. (though the WHM staff looks awful and ugly compared to Nirvana. Glad I have the real thing)

Yeah, at least half the color schemes look nowhere near as good as the originals... Nirvana's looks especially bad.
