My idea would be this, since atm all the class are better than other at using their own ability, the new job could be advance job that let you use the ability from 2 or more class with full efficiency. for example Rdm would be good with the buff/debuff from Con/Thm... whm would make use of the Healing skill from Thm/Con etc you see the idea. So once you'd have Thm and Con lvled you could specialise in Rdm Whm or Blm depending if you want to buff/debuff, heal or nuke.

That is pretty much how my system would work Alfinia.

You are proficent with both your Weapon Class and your Job Class affinities and weak at anything outside those scopes but you have free choice between equipping both and mixing and matching.

I have to thank Square-Enix for the amazing job they have done recreating Final Fantasy XIV from Scratch. Especially the inclusion of Missing Genders which we petitioned for in good faith. This was proof to us players that the Developers are truly Sympathetic to our requests and that being honest and vocal can pay off with the amazing characters we have who are Female Roegadyn, Male Miqote, and Female Highlanders. Thank You SE, Thank You Community Team, Thank You Yoshi-P.

I would personally love to see an unlock-able system. As others have mentioned as well as myself something along the lines of 30 Gladiator and 20 Conjurer allows you to do a Advanced Job quest for Paladin. Which would then be its own job.

Not exactly. If they were worried about peoples choosing the same thing, they wouldn't add Miqo'tes to the game. As usually is the people preference.

Maybe the idea of the Musketeer class still too raw for a release.

Personally, it makes more sense to me to focus in (specialization) on a 'job' than to advance up to said 'job'. What we have now in the broad base classes are the components necessary for job specialization. Specialization seems to fit into FFXIV better than advanced jobs. Some will disagree, but that is the way I see it.

I personaly am for an unlock system myself too, advanced jobs unlocked by doing the current ones up to a certain level.
The problem with such a system comes down to how to treat the weapons for them though at this point, unless you create a whole new class of weapons specificaly for the new job(which isnt too hard to do really)

Certain jobs kind of use weapons already in use so it seperates things a bit further, though im sure making weapons specificaly for them too, even if they are the same types wouldnt be too hard to do.

The easiest answer is to have the Job class system be independent of the weapon class system and allow for users to equip any job class to any weapon class.

Just a thought, but perhaps we can have our cake and eat it too...

I for one, am for class specialization. I would like to play a Conjour and based off of the specialize system, turn my Conjour into a white mage, or a black mage. I think that would be a lot of fun. But that's not to say we can't also have "unlock-able classes/job - Advance jobs/classes".

I think that if done right, both systems would work well together. Why can't we have class specialization into Jobs and then down the line, add in quest lines that unlock other classes, or better yet unlock other specializations for that class. For example:
The conjour would have two paths, black mage, white mage.
After completing a quest the conjour could then upgrade their white mage path to white wizard. (Much like from Final Fantasy I) - Just a thought. And the same would be for the black mage.
Or, based off of your levels on specialization you could open up new paths on other classes... (But this might be way to complicated)

Anyway, I would like to see some type of specialization system within the class system, and that people could search and see you by your specialization which would give parties the roles they need to play.

I also hope that the interface for specializing in different jobs is pretty slick, something as pretty as the character creation system.

I just don't like any idea that limits my choices. "Conjurer can be White Mage Or Black Mage" sounds great but right now any of the Weapon Classes can act like a White Mage or Black Mage with variously levels of effectiveness. Some might not be the best at it but that doesn't mean you should limit them from being able too.
