How do you use the Glamour Dresser?

I want to try it out, but I honestly have no idea what to do. The game doesn't really guide you. When I "open" it, I don't see the items I wish to glamour. I figured it would be similar to how we glamour our squad members and then it gets "saved" as a plate, but I can't find the items I want to use as glamour anywhere, so I have to do it the old fashioned way.

Is there a guide that walks you through how it works?

The glamour dresser creates "plates" that are used to apply a bunch of glamours at the same time. This is no different from doing it yourself except you spend fewer glamour prisms in the process, especially if you intend to use the glamour set multiple times.

To create a plate, the glamours you want to use first have to be in the dresser. This is accomplished by opening the dresser and selecting the item from the list. A glamour prism will be spent to convert the item in to a glamour.

Once converted into a glamour, the item is no longer usable in any other way and cannot be removed from the dresser except through deletion.

If you want to use a dye (especially an expensive one), use it before the item is converted into a glamour. The dye information is saved through the conversion process and will be applied by default any time the glamour is used.

Once you've got all the items you want converted to the dresser, you push the Edit Glamour Plates button at the bottom. This brings up the plate editor.

You can click the individual slots on the plate editor to bring up a list of previously-converted glamours that are appropriate for that slot. You can also use items stored in the armoire by pushing the "Open Armoire" button on the selection pane. Once you have your plate set up the way you want, click Save to save the plate to its slot and Apply to actually apply the plate to your current gear. This will overwrite any existing glamours on the slots the plate manipulates.

Plates can be applied to your gear without spending any further glamour prisms.

It should be noted that you cannot apply plates to your gear if you're not in the Major City States. If you want to remove glamour from your gear, you still need a Glamour Dispeller like normal.

With it's current restrictions it's pretty much useless atm. Why they would create a system that destroys items AND have a limit on storage blows my mind. Add to that the fact that you need to be in a city hub to swap plates and those plates don't overlay but instead overwrite... oh yeah, and plate limitations. The only thing SE got right with it was the initial name, it truly is a Glamour Toilet.

Currently the ONLY thing I've been using it for is for the weekly MGP Fashion Report. Crafted ilvl 1 items that don't cost me a small fortune get dyed and dumped in the dresser once the weekly quest is over in the event I would need to re-use those items for another Fashion Report down the line.

I haven't put a single stitch of farmed gear in there, or my Mogstation items (know a few ppl that put their scythes in it and regret it) and I don't plan on using it for my real glamour until they fix it.

    It's literally a dumpster fire.

I agree with everything Syrehn just said. I was so, so excited when this feature was announced and was ready to play with it at 4.2 release, only to be insanely disappointed by the implementation of it and I haven't touched it since the first day.

Like I just saw someone say in another thread, SE should take some notes from WoW. Their wardrobe system is AMAZING.

Same. It's a super disappointing implementation of the system. Badly designed, badly conceptualized; it's really a failure on all fronts. But the question was how to use it so... if you must, there it is.

WoW's system is far superior in every regard...and it came first, which is weird for WoW. Seriously, just copy their's... it's much better.

Yup totally agree. I took a few months break from the game and just come back. Found the glam dresser and got so hyped... So i load up it up with 200 items then notice actually 200 is the limit (it was late at night and i thought it was 200 items each page). It's insane they put such silly limits and restrictions on to it. Now i have 200 items in the bin and maybe 400/500 more across my retainers. It's going to be such a pain to sort my items now. Defiantly stay away from the dresser until they increase the cap to at least 1000 items imo.

I agree with the sentiments here, the glamour plate system is so flawed. just stick to the normal way of glamming, i wish i did. T_T

Two things need to change before I will use it.

    1. Change it so you can store 200 items PER SLOT. 200 total items is just ridiculous. It's like SE thinks hard drive space is still super expensive.
    2. Allow us to craft a dresser for housing. Having to go to your Inn is also ridiculous. "No one uses the Inns anymore. Lets make them use them with the dresser." --Someone at SE.

Until those change I'll just use the old method.
