Exactly; I feel the same way.

I missed out during 4.1 Shirogane to relocate from the Lavender Beds to there, but I was more so just angry because of all the issues the launcher/the servers were having, less so because I didn’t get my house—well, get to upgrade because I was in a small at the time (looking back though, that was a cute little small; I did love it quite a bit, and it was one I had happened upon by complete chance back in Heavensward—Lavender Beds, Ward 3, Plot 14 :3). That time and this round, I had 4 plots lined up that I wanted, and they were actually in 2 different districts (I avoided Shirogane completely, deciding to focus primarily on the plots I liked in the Lavender Beds and looking at a couple around the new Swimming area in the Goblet). I got really lucky this time, and I am also damn well pleased. But I went in expecting to have to possibly take a house lower on my list (or even one not on it at all), not expecting to land my dream home with zero issues/competition.

I had an eye on a specific Shiro plot and didn't get it this time around either. So instead I got to move onto the beach in Mist (plot 6 yay!). That didn't mean I didn't heavily scrutinize Lav Beds since I've been wanting to move there since forever. But Mist really has grown on me, designed my home with the Mist interior in mind and...well it's just home now. So ultimately I get to save my money and bide my time and aim for a large whenever they next release wards. That's the dream.

I think thats a big point people tend to forget in teh craze for trying to get Shirogane. The other plots are nice too, and while i tmay not be your first choice, it usually does grow on you if you actually give it a go. Even with more housing in Shiro, and that I could transfer, I dont want to anymore. I dont have any desire for the place. Im going to keep my LB home cause I like it more. Thats why people shouldnt be focusing on getting a 'specific house' in a specific place, but rather just focus on a list of houses youre interested in and try to get one of them.
