This annoys me too. Fortunately my house is now in the same ward as my FC house, so I am just opting to remove both the aetheryte and the mailbox since I already have one nearby anyway.

Yes please! Stick it outside the plot next to or opposite the placard. Heck, put the miniature aetheryte there too, if the devs feel it's absolutely necessary to justify why we can teleport to our houses.
I'm surprised so many people go out of their way to hide the crystal. It's only one of the most iconic parts of a FF game. Let's hide it! No one can see this beautiful blue crystal that's at the core of FFXIV.
Because alot of people have a theme when they do their gardens, and with that the Aetheryte sticks out like a sore thumb.
I'll not deny that the aetheryte looks nice, but when it's been in your yard for literally years, you want something different.
While I would prefer the necessary mailbox and aetheryte furnishings to be included in the plot, instead of taking precious extra yard slots, I would absolutely settle for a larger variety of both. There are a bunch of different style aetherytes in the expansion zones, why can't we get miniature aetherytes based on those? We still only have two mailbox options, even though every yard is basically required to have one, we have virtually no customization options with them.
My ideal scenario would have mailboxes and aetherytes become Fixtures, so we can still swap out different styles, but they don't take up limited item slots.
