Well heres a problem im having. Usually when someone changes their name in a game it's to get away from someone. However, if you search any character, you can see who they were before. Im having an issue and was thinking about changing my name, but what's the point in wasting the money when someone can look up the new character and see who you used to be. How can I keep my account private? I know this because it happened to someone know. He changed his characters looks and name to get away from someone. The someone was searching random names and found out that it was him. I don't think that's right. Only your friends and FC members should know who you are after you change your name. You shouldn't be able to tell from looking them up. Or using their PSN ID. The PSN Id should be private anyway.

I did experience tankxiety when I first started XIV, because I didn't really know what I was doing, where I was going, what was expected of me, etc. though. I didn't really want to keep pushing through MSQ dungeons - it was somewhere between self-torture and just being a super draining chore. That mostly passed by the time I reached Brayflox, after knuckling down and spending some time looking at some visual guides for general tank etiquette.

Take it slow. Breathe. Relax. Take breaks. And don't give up; put in a little work here and there and it'll get easier.

OMG tankxiety is a thing! I have it, too. I was fine as a MRD until my first dungeon (this was before novice network came out) and boom, it went so bad, left the game and came back. If you had no MMO experience then, you had to go out of the game to learn how to play it, YouTube, everything, didn't know that. I never felt fine tanking since, even til now, finished Stormblood, doing end game content as PLD, those feelings haunt me. And I'm maining a PLD because I hate how that one experience changed me, gave me something I don't wanna have. I don't wanna live my life scared. And I certainly don't wanna live my life scared to tank! Kinda petty but it's the principle. To this day I'm fighting to overcome those feelings. And fighting them means confronting them one dungeon at a time. I also realized that being scared of failing has motivated me to git gud.

We all got crosses to bear. So don't feel sorry for ourselves or think poorly of ourselves and try to make the best out of any situation, good or bad.

Anybody else feel super anxious and scared when playing this game (or heck, any social situation for that matter?)

I'm right there with your friend. ^_^ For me its so different trying to get to know people online in a game. People say you can be yourself online when your hidden behind a screen, but for me its a lot harder than meeting people IRL. I always find myself unsure of how to interact with others or just talk like others are so comfortable with doing with strangers! But I found an FC with great people who make me really comfortable and talk to me and treat me like an equal. And that's my suggestion there, is find a fun and social FC and let them talk to you and invite you to things and ask you questions about yourself. You'll find yourself growing a strong friendship with these FC members!

It's gotten to the point where I'd leave the FC and stop playing entirely for a while because I'd get so nervous.

Does anybody else feel this way? How do you deal with it?

Sometimes I feel a little anxiety, but generally dont so this may not be all that insightful. For me, it helps to know the potential result that I'm worried about. Is it performance anxiety? Fear of rejection? Etc. And it's generally not as bad as what I was thinking.

Ex:
What if they don't like me? What if I have a bad round and get booted? I'd be partiless!!!! Oh... I'm already partiless... Nothing to lose! lol.

Sure it might be uncomfortable for a little bit if the worst case scenario plays out, but no social relationship is going to be 100% comfortable 100% of the time. But if you pick up your toys and go home before it starts or as soon as it becomes less than 100% comfortable, the odds of those relationships failing is 100%
