Why would you join a lootmaster party?

I've seen a lot of these for Byakko, and they're actually filling up, and I just don't see the logic in it myself. Why would you join a party just to help someone else get whatever they want instead of one where you could get a fair shot?

I'm assuming by lootmaster you mean the mount which is the most common.

It depends what they want. If they just need like 2 totems or alt weapons or something, it's whatever. Lootmaster doesn't stop you from getting totems. Maybe they already have the dog and there is no lootmaster on the crafting material or sheet music.

Either that or it's a trap party, where it's the leader and their buddies that are there to help them get their dog then are going to bail afterwards but couldn't quite fill the entire party.

Or they just didn't read. (This is actually fairly common, people reading the category and not the comment or additional notes)

I wouldn't join them ever though.

You're assuming that people read all the details before joining.

I don't get it either. The chance for abuse is way too high; I outright refuse to join loot master parties. Personally, I think S-E needs to completely overhaul how they let players distribute loot, but that's a separate discussion.

Yes sorry wasn't very clear. The "mount in order" type groups. I've seen 2 drop in 43 kills so far, if you're the 8th person joining do you really think you're going to stay together for 150 plus runs? You'll be lucky to see just one, and that goes to the person who made it. I get why people make them I just don't see why people join I guess.

Why attack one enemy when the tank has 6+ stacked together and the healer is dpsing? Why stay in tank stance for the entirety of the boss when mobs before and after are pulled wall to wall? Why join farm groups for content they've yet to clear?

Because playerbase. That or they're just bored and don't care about loot.

To answer your question, OP, personally, if I ever join a lootmaster party, it's usually to pick up the totem for that particular primal and nothing more. Did this quite a bit with Susano Ex to get my alt jobs their weapon.

If it's lootmaster, I agree with you.

If it's not lootmaster, and they say this, I would assume they just got the mount recently and Lodestone hasn't updated yet.
Because, if it's not lootmaster, what could they gain by saying this other than enticing more people to join? Everyone still has a free shot at the loot.

Some people might join for totems.
Some people might join just to help out.
If there's a new person bonus on top of the loomaster, some people might join for the Second Chance.
If it's a tank, some people might join to get an instance run toward an achievement.
Some people recognize the party leader and know it's a good person.

I've joined other extremes that were loomaster (not Byakko) because i already had the mount or didn't care about it because I planned on farming it in the future with better gear, didn't care about other drops, and they were on my WT list.

And of course some people don't read/think.

Lootmaster party my static is running that we all agreed to the rules? Sure.

Lootmaster party of randoms? Hell no.

It's one thing to use it to distribute gear in a fair manner amongst a set group working on content together day after day. It's lunacy to put in the work so the lootmaster and their buddies get the goods.
