And once again, this started to happen after a patch/maintenance.

Her system:

Motherboard: Intel DH61BR
CPU: Intel Core i5-3330
RAM: 8GB
OS: Windows 7 Ultimate x64
GPU: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1070

She's just playing and suddenly the game freezes, she can still hear sounds of stuff happening but the screen is frozen. If she tries to move, I can see her character moving a bit, but eventually it crashes.
Sometimes the screen just goes black and it says directx fatal error and the game closes, or the game disconnects and gives a 90002, 90001 or 90006 message.

Most of the time she plays with pingzapper, discord and chrome on the background, but we have tried to run just the game and it still crashes.

The last time this happened, back in Heavensward, we reinstalled the game from scratch and it fixed the problem. This time, it did not work.

We have tried:

- Reinstalling the game
- Updated the GPU video drivers (we even made a clean install of the latest drivers)
- Disabling all kinds of overlays, including Windows Aero
- Fiddled with boosts and slight voltage increases in EVGA experience
- Fiddled with the game's graphic settings
- Fiddled with nvidia control panel, forcing the gpu to ignore energy saving and focus on performance
- We tried launching ffxiv both on directx11 and directx9, and both eventually crash

And we did some other stuff that I dont quite remember.

Some of these improved the situation a bit. She would freeze all the time, anywhere. Now freezes more frequently while we're raiding. Which still sucks a lot.

Oh, btw, we tried stress tests with FurMark, and things went fine. She can also play Overwatch and Witcher 3, both on the highest settings, with absolutely no problem, so it's something specific to FFXIV.
Something broke after the last patch/maintenance.
We dont know what else we can do.
The issue you are describing is a driver crash. It's not Final Fantasy XIV per se, more of how the game will interact with your PC (which is why other games may not exhibit the same error). I would suggest doing a clean boot. For Windows 7, click Start, type msconfig.exe in the Start Search box, and then press Enter to start the System Configuration utility. On the General tab, click the Selective startup option, and then click to clear the Load startup items check box. On the Services tab, click to select the Hide all Microsoft services check box, and then click Disable all.

Since you are also getting disconnection errors, I will provide some connection troubleshooting as this may be connected:
Make sure you are on a wired connection (as opposed to wireless).
Reset your router by turning it off and back on.
Make sure your anti-virus/firewall has exceptions for Final Fantasy XIV
Check the following Port Ranges on your router/modem to ensure that the following Port Ranges have been opened/forwarded/triggered:
▼TCP
54992 through 54994,
55006 through 55007,
55021 through 55040

Your ISP may forward these ports for you.*

We hope we can be of assistance in helping you enjoy the exciting world of Final Fantasy XIV!
