    The only time it bothers me is when people list items for the npc resale price. Why even bother using the marketboard at that point? Otherwise if people crash a market, I take my items and just wait for it to go back up like it always does

    SE wouldn't just be affecting those people with this change. They would be affecting the people who put something up and "oh shit, I meant to add a zero" and now they're screwed. Or someone recalculates what something cost and wants to make an adjustment. There are plenty of valid reasons to adjust prices that would be negatively affected by something they really don't need to regulate for players.

    Don't list an item for a high price and you wont get much competition to begin with. I don't know about you, but I don't make items to play games on the Market Boards, I make items to sell and that's exactly whats going to happen.

    I will undercut however much I want if I just want to make quick gil. I ain't gonna play minor undercut games at the retainer for hours, nor am I gonna leave my price high so no one buys it. I want it gone, I want the gil, so I will undercut by 10k+ if need be.

    How to undercut PROPERLY! ->

    Manage production costs so it costs you less than them

    MURDER THE HECK OUT OF THE PRICE! MAKE MORE AND REPEAT!

    <- profit

    Seriously though, why should I care about other crafters? THE MARKET IS MY PVP! YOU ARE MY ENEMIES! Why is no one supporting the buyers? You have to care for the buyers if you are a true hot blooded crafter! I crash a market, make a fortune, and others get to buy an item at a non extortionate price! Who loses? Overpricing crafters? I'd rather be on my customers' side! Besides, items are so overpriced I can cut them in half and STILL make off like a thief.

    Also, if you are having problems with large drops in price, you are making overpriced items. DIVERSIFY! Corner a different market (I like mythril armor myself, sells like hotcakes). The higher the price the item THE GREATER THE PRICE DISPARITY OF VENDORS! It's % based, a 3,000,000 gil katana with a 10% price mark down is undercut 300,000 gil. A 5,000 gil demimateria is dropped 500 gil. It's all economics and math in the end. No one is spending 3 days in a 1 gil battle with you for a 3 million gil item unless they REALLY don't get economics and business, and when we're dealing with millions, even a 1,000 gil drop might as well be a 1 gil drop. PERCENTAGES!

    how I undercut: first, assuming I crafted the item, I have in my head a break even price that, if it goes under, I will remove from the MB until it goes above the price (this cost might include a second copy of an orchastration for me tho). Then I undercut by maybe 5 gil. Then, assuming it hasn't sold I check to see if I was undercut. Rinse, repeat. I actually pulled off something I got from a maps run as it had lost 90% of the value it was selling for when I sold it. 700k roll from that same run? rather than spend my cash on another copy, used it myself. The something I got from maps I had to pull was a tabletop vase that was going for 1.2 mil. After multiple, multiple undercuts, I pulled it at around 400k. Nobody bought during that time and the first purchase was sub 300k.

    How to undercut:

    Place your item for any lower amount than the current lowest price.

    Simple as that. Unless you bought the item for resale your making a profit no matter what you sell it at.

    Maybe some people intentionally undercut to get everyone else to sell at a low price. They then buy out the low price and relist at a higher price. (seems to happen with shards and crystals)

    I don't do that in this game because everything is cheep and semi worthless anyway. I for sure would do that in other games, especially when it involved being able to pay sub with in-game money.

    There is more than one way to work a market.

    /That/ befuddles me, especially with furniture and the like. At least sell it for a mild profit, even if it's just 100 gil.
