Why I don't agree with "Instances" as a fix.

I hate always hearing about "Instanced Housing" being a magical cure. By creating seperate instances for housing you seriously hurt the RP community and the players who enjoy meeting neighbors and showing off your house. Also not having your house visible to everyone all the time would mean little incentive to decorate causing the prices of housing to fluctuate.

I believe we need a hybrid system where people who want to experience the neighborhoods can, then you could also make seperate instanced housing for players otherwise (Think about how your house was in Fable 3 for example).

You could effectively choose to live in a subdivision with people or in the country alone.

Well, thats why I'd say: Keep the wards we're having right now and ADD instanced houses for those who dont care about RP, having neighbours and visitors.
Give people an incentive to move to an instanced house (but dont force them), make instanced houses cheaper than the ward-ones and maybe keep a few wards on each server for FC-only, should instanced housing be added.

It would solve quite a bit - personally, I dont need visitors at my house all the time. I dont care much for people running through my house or my garden - I like having friends over and sharing the house with my boyfriend, but I dont need a stranger in my garden. And afaik a lot of other people feel the same - look at all the houses that are just locked. Think about the people who are mainly intrested in having a garden to crossbreed.
Dont shut something that could work as a solution in addition to the exsiting system - that works "fine" for RPers or anyone who wants a community - down. Not everyone who wants a house is part of the RP-community, you know?
I think no one was arguing to replace the wards with instanced housing, but to add that additionally...

I spend too much time in my yard to give it up. I’ve picked all my houses mostly because of views. I craft a lot and I do it in the yard sometimes.

They had instanced housing in FF XI. This game is much better.

I feel a lot of hate towards independent owners and people shouting FCs Only! I see and hear a lot of people complaining that the ward system was a mistake and shouldn't have been a thing. I fundamentally disagree with that statement and believe that a hybrid system is necessary for everyone to be happy.

I think if Yoshi wants to promote wards for community use then they need to make it easier to have a sense of community. Try decorating events or a neighborhood message board.

I think the main reason people are upset with the current system is that its impossible for everyone to have a house and specially for everyone to have the house they want (I assume that thats plot 30/60 in Shirogane because that would make the most sense - little joke to brighten the dark housing-mood). Specially right now people are upset - but not because of the ward-system but because of the housing-shortage. Instanced Housing on top of the wards would fix that shortage - everyone with the needed gil would have housing-access in general. People who'd like to have a community - not me, but apparently you for example - could use the wards with a lot of less hate towards them. Just keep in mind that right now minds are especially heated...

You make it sound like you disgaree with instanced housing at all - which you dont seem to...?
I dont see SE riping out the wards we have now - they'd have no reason to do that and would upset a lot of people. Adding instanced housing can happen without touching the wards.

Well they could make something like in an other game and make each plot an instance while leaving the zone itself as a public area. This way you could enjoy your own house while stile seeing what happens at the street. They could even add some NPCs wandering around to make things more lively. Also no one would realy care if someone has 1, 2 or 30 plots if everyone is able to get everything.

Hybrid system is already there, they just need to make bigger appartements and some kind of balcony for exterior decoration. The problem is content gating behind the housing.
