not sure if these macros were linked, I saw it was mentioned to merge fairy spells, but that is not necessary.

2 macros I use that replace spells on my bars when i summon each fairy:

    Eos:

    /micon "Summon"
    /ac "Summon"
    /hotbar pet "Fey Illumination" eos 2 4
    /hotbar pet "Whispering Dawn" eos 2 5
    /hotbar pet "Fey Covenant" eos 2 6

    Selene:

    /micon "Summon II"
    /ac "Summon II"
    /hotbar pet "Fey Caress" selene 2 4
    /hotbar pet "Fey Wind" selene 2 5
    /hotbar pet "Silent Dusk" selene 2 6

this puts the abilities on bar 2 and the 2nd number is the corresponding slot on the bar.

I then use another macro to put pet on steady/obey/heel so i can control it:

    /micon "Obey" pet
    /pac "Steady"
    /pac "Obey"
    /pac "Heel"

Another macro to place the pet or make it heel on the next press:

    /pac Heel
    /pac Place
    /micon Place pet Eos

These are pretty good macros for the main things you need to do with the fairies to consolidate keybind usage ^^

I've been playing SCH secondary for a bit now, though I haven't reached level 70 content yet. I've mostly been running with Eos on sic, but I'm starting to try using obey a bit more. It's a lot to keep up with, but at least with a controller I don't have any issues with a shortage of hotbar space. The only macros I use are summon macros for Eos & Selene that swap the pet commands to match. I agree with making the pet commands auto-swap, I don't think I'd support the other suggestions.

People shouldnt be afraid of the amount of skills, it doesnt really matter if you have 2 pages of skillbars or 4, since you can simply switch between them. However, I agree that Sch might be confusing at first.

Yep, the only macro I have on my Sch (well, besides raise macro with text) is to place SS/Shadow Flare on target if one is selected so I don't have to mess with the target ring most of time. I also use a controler but do agree that the fairy abilities (and this goes for Summoner as well since I play that class) should swap based off of which one is out at the time.

So I just noticed this thread and I am slightly confused I didn't read everything, but I will. But Here's what doesn't make sense. The OP said the faerie skills should swap when you switch them, but they already swap, so I don't see the issue; unless you specifically mean when you place them on your bar. And also, I'm not sure I understand the skill bloat issue. I have all of my skills on 2 crossbars and my faerie skills and some others on the expanded hotbar, cause the pet bar annoys me since I can't edit it. I'm not saying things arent bloated, I'm hust curious what is causing the bloat in other peoples opinion.

I like helping people with their Job ideas, it's fun to help them visuallize and create the job they'd like to play most. Plus I make my own too, I'll post them eventually.

I think the general stance is (and should be from a design standpoint) that all your skills should fit on 3 hotbars (buffs and summons included). This is not something you can achieve on SCH at the moment.
If you plan on playing properly you're looking at 4 hotbars because of the pet skills. It's just too much, no other class in the game has this level of skill bloat.

I personally don't mind. I'm loving it. But sometimes I wonder how anyone playing on controller or without an mmo mouse can manage properly (without macros).

I can try and upload pictures if anyone wants to see. Ironically, SCH, is one of the few jobs where I feel I can get all of the skills just where I want them, sone other jobs have a minor inconvenience placement, T.T.

I'm not sure how you manage that, SCH has something like 23 skills including summons which you need to keep handy. Add sprint to that and that's already two hot bars gone. Add 5 role skills + about 3-4 interchangeable ones and you're only left with about 3-4 slots to cover the minimum of fairy placement skills + 4 faerie skills. Not to mention embrace doesn't auto switch out if you change fairies (though this can be covered by summon macros) and potentially one Selene skill and lets not forget the LB.

That's a total of about 39-40 skills (I have exactly 39). You can probably remove a couple of those as they're very situational role skills etc.. but it's still a lot. And Even with that I'm still manually clicking some of the lesser used faerie sic/obey/follow features.

Again, I find this fun. It's way more gratifying than my 3 skill whm but it's still bloated compared to the other classes I have leveled.

As an fyi (for full disclosure):
HB1 - Swiftcast, cleric, ET, sprint, Summon I, protect, Summon II, embrace, bio II, Lucid, Aetherflow, largess
HB2 - Rescue, Ruin II, Broil II, bane, miasma II, ED, Miasma, DT, eye4eye (the one I definitely hardly use), Shadowflare, surecast, Chain stratagem
HB3 - Physic, adlo, lustrate, whispering dawn, succor, indom, esuna, fey union, excog, raise, sacred soil, LB
HB4 - Place (faerie), Fey covenant, Fey illumination, Fey Caress, Silent dusk (which, lets be honest, I never use so haven't counted it)

This game works well on a controller. The issue is that many important functions aren't on by default. When I set up ext. WXHB, L>R, & R>L, there are 48 slots without switching hotbars. That's every SCH action, 5 role actions, sprint, LB, 12 pet controls (with actions swapped by summon macro). That’s 45 actions, leaving 3 for gysahl greens, mount, & teleport. I've got my pet controls on L>R & R>L. Since it’s hidden, I also use a small horizontal hotbar to see pet action cooldowns. My summon macro swaps those out also.

Getting it set up to work well is the problem. Having ext. WXHB, L>R, & R>L hotbars enabled from the start, or showing tooltips to explain the options once the first hotbar is full would mostly fix that. Making pet commands auto swap @ summon would do the rest.

Also, as an update, I now always run Eos on Obey, & it's much better.

Ah thanks, that's cool to know. As someone who doesn't own a ps4 I appreciate the insight.

Yup, thats how I do it, maybe some things are different, but thats what I use to have access to all my skills.
