How to fix the messy Glamor system

I frankly have had enough of the Glamor system. It is a mess and needs to be fixed. The Glamor Dresser can honestly take a hike.

Instead of the Glamor Crystals glamoring 1 item to 1 item, clogging the inventory and forcing me to use lower ilv gear if I wanna use my job artifact gear as glamor, how about instead we have "Glamor Slots" for each job (keeping the swappable Plates that were just released so we can have presets for each, but we should be allowed to edit them on the go).

Example: I want to use the Ivalician Squire chest, boots and gloves. I switch to PLD and use 3 crystals to glamor the intended items through the Glamor window like before, but the projected items would go to their "Glamor Slot", and then you can just dump the item at your Retainer or whatever. This way we keep the glamors we want permanently even while swapping equipped gear and don't have to worry about spoiling our appearance mid-roulette because we picked up new gear.

I want it like how Wildstar is set up. You have costume slots. You set it up how you want. You switch it how you want. Every time you switch gear, your costume stays unless you change it. No hassle.

That much of a system overhaul would likely take more resources than they're willing to invest, if they don't think it's worth the cost.

Not necessarily. They overhauled Perform the very next patch, which shows they're listening to player feedback on new systems. I wouldn't be surprised if they began refining the new glamour system as early as 4.25.

And what about people with hundreds of glamour items? Retaining items as items keeps the problem of a limited initial inventory. Also outfits that share pieces require duplicates of possibly very expensive items.

Refine yes, scrap and start over? highly unlikely.

In my opinion, we don't need to start from scratch, this current system (while a little clunky) could work once they refine it a little.

-Making the glamour dresser easier to sort through when depositing items (IE: Having what is it, Shirts Hats and Gloves all in one section makes it harder to find anything quickly to deposit)
-The ability to assign a plate to a gearset (so that changing the gearset will change the glamour plate and you wont have to readjust it every time. Luckily they're working on this already.)
-Making the glamour plate mask over the items instead of applying the glamour to the items. (What i mean by this is.. have it so if you're wearing a set on both your BLM and SMN, applying the plate to your SMN will currently apply the glamour to the items so your BLM would take on the appearance of that plate, even while not having any plates applied. Theres currently no workaround as using a glamour dispeller would take the glam away from both jobs still, requiring the plate to be re-applied so our options are either have a plate for each job, or gather two copies of the set, one to be glammed over and one to not be glammed over..)
-And of course, increase the number of plates we have, giving us at least enough plates for every combat job to have a plate. Ideally giving enough for all DoW and DoH/DoL jobs would be great but at the very least, we need enough to accommodate all the combat jobs.
-Let the items be removed from the glamour dresser, obviously.
-While I understand having to be at the dresser to deposit the items, They should let us adjust our plates on the fly, from anywhere. Give us access to the plates and let us change them around with items in our glamour dresser. Some people change their glamours around often, or switch pieces around. Having to run back to an inn (or hopefully eventually our house) every time we want to change our gloves out with a different pair of gloves is going to be a hassle, and make this system even more frustrating.

I'm sure theres many more, but like I said this system has potential. It's not as good as a glamour log by a longshot, but if this is the route they want to take, then there are options to make it as convenient to use as possible.

This isn't a refinement of the system in place. That's designing an entirely new system.

While this part is the most technical, and probably the least likely to happen, I could see it being done under the constraints of the current system. It would have to be paired with the "apply a plate to a gearset" thing they're working on, but I was thinking it could be done by basically.. applying the glamour only to the items used in the current gearset its applied to, and dispelling the glamour on the item when you switch to a different gearset. So it wouldnt really be masking over it, but..

Basically going by the reference used in the above scenario, with the BLM and SMN wearing the same armor, You would have them both saved to a gearset, but only the SMN would have the glamour plate applied. So when you switch to your SMN gearset, it would apply the glamour to the items. If you switch to the BLM gearset that didnt have a plate, it would dispell the glamour.

In order to do this though they would have to completely remove the old original glamour system that allowed you to individually glamour single items, and.. like i said it would be too complicated for them to probably do. But I can dream :P

What is wrong with just using the dresser? When it comes to lower level, or insufficient stat gear, what's the point in even keeping them as items?

How are you guys complaining about inventory space? In all the MMO's I have ever played FFXIV give 10x's more inventory space than any other mmo and that's not including 2 free retainers. Other MMO's give 20 to 30 slots of inventory space at the start. Then you have to spend $20 to $30 for more inventory space and it doesn't even come close to what we get at the start of a new character in FFXIV.

Stop Hoarding all your gear. Find the gear you know you will use for glamour and toss the rest. There are so many ways to get your old event and job gear later if you decide you want to have it back.

Clean out your retainers and sell your useless stuff on the market board or turn it in for seals and call it a day. I just dont get it... IMHO the dev team and server team really went far beyond the call of duty when it comes to what we have in FFXIV. You can play any job you want on one character. There is tons of inventory space. They even changed up the entire glamour system in a few short years to where all you need is 1 type of glamour crystal..... seriously we are extremely spoiled in this game... and some how players still complain about inventory space.... go play Neverwinter or DCUO or Tera and see for yourself how spoiled we are in FFXIV.

Hats off to you devs and server team... you are doing an amazing job keeping this game going.

Were numbers invented or discovered? How many Moogles does it take to make Kuponut rum? Answer: zero... They will give you a quest to make it.
