    Jump Potions

What is the general opinion on jump potions? Do they help make the game better or the player worse?

My take - remove them or have jump potions for both DoH and DoW. I’m lazy and it takes forever to craft so jump me up. I do think it makes for players who don’t learn their class properly. Levelling DoW is fast anyway. As for DoH? Why wouldn’t it be in same boat?

Yeeeah a jump potion that puts you at level 60 crafter is still going to leave you a long, long way off from being able to craft that kind of stuff.

If levelling DoW is fast like you say, why don't you just do it instead of asking for a jump potion? I don't get it.

They introduced jump potion so that new players could join their friend quickly without having to do ARR and HW before.
You however don't need DoW or DoH to do PVE content. That's all.

Oh I totally would! But my thread is about jump potions and why have them? If you have them for DoW why not make them for DoH? I know it’s a sensitive subject, but my opinion is that it shouldn’t have been introduced at all. And if they did introduce them, be fair and do it for every class in the game. Personally I say leave them out and get rid of them

I don’t and never have or never will use a jump potion. I want to be good at my class and I feel personally I wouldn’t be able to do the job properly without starting from level 1

So why do that? If you have friends who want to play why not help them out from the start instead of having new people who don’t know the job get immediately into high level content? I have a beef with SE and this game and that they really just leave old content to die or provide shortcuts (ie potd) to people . Options are nice but completely skipping content in such a deep and fulfilling game doesn’t make sense to me

I wont argue that jump potions are good(im not a fan), but that issue is one im not really passionate about. But youre wrong about crafting taking forever to level. Using most of the resources available to you its not hard to take a class from 1-50 in around a week to 10 days, with 50-60 and 60-70 being roughly another week each. You could have a preferred class at 70 with all the important cross class skills in about a month. If however you use ALL the resources available, you could have them all leveled in that time.

Free company actions, experience manuals, experience boosting items, grand company turn ins, beast tribe quests, leve allowances, collectables... there are a LOT of things theyve added over the years to reduce the time it takes to level a craft.

Crafting leveling has been nerfed 3 times already this expansion. It's not hard.

I feel no reason why a jump potion for crafter/gatherer should exist just because they exist for battle classes.

The reason why jump potions for story/battle classes exist is so people who wish to jump closer to endgame dungeons/trials/raids can do so. Whether that's someone new wanting to play with friends, or an existing player rolling a new character on another server, or whatever else. Crafting classes wouldn't affect that.

I also personally do not care if jump potions exist. The only reason I mind their existence is because of how many players are now using it to assume many things. Suddenly if a player sucks it's "I bet it's a jump potion player". Likewise the opposite is assumed, that a player who admits to using a jump potion must be bad, even if said player might actually be good. So my only dislike about jump potions is the "sky is falling" reaction from people who don't use them, rather than the people who do use them.

This is because I realize that it makes little difference in the long run. A person who uses a jump potion but wants to be a good player will take the time to learn their skills and rotation and with practice can be just as skilled as any other player. A person who uses a jump potion but just feels like doing "whatever" would be just as bad if they had leveled from level 1. Jump potions don't affect those people's willingness to learn to play well.

I also realize that having to buy 2 jump potions (as there's no point for a new player to buy a job jump and not a story jump, and vice versa) is very expensive for true new players who aren't even sure how long they'll be playing the game for, so there's not going to be a mass outbreak of new players who use them, and while I don't have data to back it up, I would imagine that a lot (not all, but probably a majority) of jump potions buyers are somewhat experienced players (at least 1 70) rolling a new job/character.
