    4.2 : Freeze, error 90006 on only 1 of my 2 FF14 service accounts

    Hello there,

I have 2 FF14 service accounts (n°1 & n°2) that I launch one after another on the same laptop, using the same internet connection.
My characters are in Moogle (EU), and so I usually play both characters simultaneously, whether I run a dungeon with n°1, while n°2 is doing some rapid synthesis, or when I gather same nodes with both characters. I've been doing this since ARR without issue.

But since 4.2 patch, I've encountered several issues with my FF14 service account n°1, and only that n°1 (although I'm running both accounts at the same time), such as : lags, freezes, endless freezes and eventually error 90006. As soon as I encounter error 90006, I kind of enter in a error 90006 loop for some time... But when error 90006 stops, I'm having again lags, freeze etc... until the next error 90006 cycle.

    I encounter these issues whether I :
    - craft
    - gather
    - change job/class
    - interact with certain npc (Ixali vendor, scripts vendors, my retainers)
    - interact with certain objects (summoning bell, entry door of my house, quests objectives, company chest)
    - teleport

I would like to point out that
    > I mainly encounter "small" freezes during crafts, teleports, when interacting with summoning bell, retainers, script vendors, quests objectives and entry door of the house, changing job/class,
    > but as soon as I interact with Ixali vendor, i get an endless freeze (without disconnection error 90006)
    > and as soon as I approach a gathering node (normal, unspoiled, whether it is crowed or not it doesn't make a difference), without having the time to interact with it, I immediately get a "true" endless freeze and I can just wait for the error 90006 to occur.
    > I don't have such issues when I'm running a dungeon or a raid.

Yesterday, I couldn't even open the company chest because of "data unavailable" whereas I could open it with account n°2.

Everytime I encounter a problem with account n°1, I try doing the same thing at the same place with account n°2, and I can do it just fine. For example, just an hour ago, I brought both characters on an unspoiled node : n°1 immediately got stuck in an endless freeze, and n°2 could gather just fine.

And whether I run account n°1 first and n°2 after, or n°2 first and n°1 after, it doesn't make a single difference, only 1 account is having issues and it's only the account n°1.

    I really don't understand why.
If someone can help me, please.

Good afternoon and thank you for posting on the Final Fantasy XIV Technical Support Forums.

Can you elaborate on the kind of disconnect you are having?

    Please provide:

    - Platform (PC, PS4, Mac)
    - Type of connection (wired or wireless)
    - Other programs running while the game is playing (if any)
    - Frequency at which disconnect occurs
    - Where you are booted to after disconnect (Desktop, Start Screen, Character Select)
    - Everything you have tried to resolve the issue

The fact that you are being disconnected from one character and not another doesn't give us much to work with. You will connect with them differently as that info is not saved locally.

We hope we can be of assistance in helping you enjoy the exciting world of Final Fantasy XIV!

    Good morning,

I've already elaborated above the kind of freeze and disconnect (error 90006) I am having, where and when they happen, and only on my FF14 account n°1.
I've experienced these issues (only on account n°1) between 07h00 (GMT) and 17h00 (GMT).
I don't happen to log in outside of that time window, so I don't know if they still occur or not.
I made some crafting & gathering on both accounts simultaneously until a couple of hours prior to 4.2 launch maintenance, interacting with Ixali vendor, and didn't have any of these issues on any account.
When 4.2 hit, these issues began.
However, on Feb 5th around 15h00 (GMT) I could surprisingly dual-gather some nodes without getting struck by freeze/disconnect.
And as of Sunday night, I haven't got freezes when interacting with scripts vendor, summoning bell and my retainers.
And as I mention it above, I do not get any of these issues while running a dungeon or a raid, even when both accounts are connected.

    > Platform : PC
    > Type of connection : wireless (there is no microwave oven, tv, other devices in the vicinity except my laptop, mouse and smartphone)

    > Other programs running while the game is playing :
    - MSI Afterburner, RivaTunerStatisticsServer, MSI Dragon Center, RazerSynapse, SteelSeries Engine 3
    - Windows Defender*, Google Chrome*

    > Frequency at which disconnect occurs :
    - As soon as I am near a gathering node, or if by any chance I manage to interact with, as soon as the gathering window opens I get stuck in endless freeze + disconnect error 90006
    - I've also experience one time this Sunday a disconnect error 90006 while being immobile doing nothing in the garden in Lavender Beds.
    - When such error 90006 occurs, it seems I enter an error 90006 loop for 15~20 minutes, as I experience again error 90006 between 0 second (yes, instant disconnect) and less than 2 minutes after I connect back.
    - If I don't "provoke" an error 90006 by getting near a gathering node, it looks like I don't get disconnect at all (except that one on Sunday while doing nothing in Lavender Beds)

    > Where you are booted to after disconnect : Desktop

    > Everything you have tried to resolve the issue :
    - I've already made the Internet Explorer setup & the portforward as mentioned in another post, prior to 4.2, just in case
    - * I've shut down Chrome & Windows Defender : no improvement
    - I've tried connecting only account n°1 : no improvement
    - I've tried connecting only account n°2 : normal gaming experience, no freeze no error 90006
    - It doesn't resolve anything but, I litterally kind of stop playing my account n°1 (except for dungeons and some low lvl crafts that I don't mind getting disconnected in the middle of).

    Kind regards

Cap your FPS on 30 and I promise it will work but the gaming experience is shocking as its capped at 30fps on pc which is unnatural and they have to SORT IT!!!

PLEASE have SE sort the FPS issue going on after 4.2 patch! PC gamers have to cap their FPS on 30 to play FF which is despicable.

    Good evening SimplyJames168,

Okay, I'll try to cap FPS on 30 tomorrow morning.
However, now I recall that some time ago (at the end of Heavensward), I had diagonal screen tearing issues on my laptop, only when playing FF14,
and I managed to get rid of them by lifting the FPS cap (it was originally capped at 60), and since then I'm running at FPS 100 or so.

In any case, I'll try to bring FPS down at 30, and see if I still have long freeze and/or disconnect when interacting with certain npc or when gathering.

    Thank you for your contribution.

    Kind regards

no need to thank I just wish SE would sort this asap because we shouldn't have to suffer DC and stutter lags because of the new patch. My game this afternoon crashed and DCed even after I had the fps capped so probably its just getting worse and worse and it needs fixing otherwise we will be royally f***ed.

So, i brought down FPS to 30 and when gathering some nodes : no more freeze / disconnect, but diagonal screen tearing is back.
Afterwards, i lifted back FPS cap and continued gathering : no freeze / disconnect neither !

(nothing changed in my laptop, internet connection, game setup between last night and this morning)

I've continued gathering for an hour without FPS cap, and no freeze / disconnect at all. No freeze neither while teleporting all around the world.
I went to Ixali camp speak to npc & vendor : no freeze.
I interact with scripts vendors, summoning bell, retainers, etc... : no freeze.

So, for now, it looks like my gaming experience on both accounts is back to normal.
I still don't know what caused these issues. Although SE did an emergency maintenance last night, it seems it had fixed only housing issues.
So, I'd really like to know what caused my issues, specially if they were on my end, so I can prevent them from occuring again in the future.

Thank you for the update Xtah,

It's good to hear that you no longer have this issue (at least for right now).

When you had the issues before, were they at a certain time in the day (you said 700 to 1700, however I'm not sure if the issue was more prevalent during specific hours)? You said 'this morning' when you mentioned nothing had changed on your laptop. My initial thought is that there is less congestion during the morning hours, however this may not be the cause of it.

Additionally, I don't think the 30 fps cap has any impact on the connection to the game as any instability would be local to your PC.

We hope we can be of assistance in helping you enjoy the exciting world of Final Fantasy XIV!
