- it's a missed opportunity that BLMs don't have the option to spec for just 1 or at max 2 elements. it should make sense in an FF game that players could choose to be a fire, ice, or thunder mage only
- you can't be an "efficient" player if you refuse to memorize rotations etc. basically, this game punishes players whose playstyles are more reactive than calculated
- I like the gear designs because they are consistent with the FF franchise(Yoshitaka Amano-sensei has a particular aesthetic). the only downside is we're not allowed to dye a specific part of the cloth (i.e. collar or left sleeve only) to encourage creativity
More unpopular opinions:
-There are no 'bad' servers. Just a bunch of people who allow confirmation bias to constantly reinforce the few bad experiences they have while ignoring the good. I used to be one of them until I kicked my ass out of the mindset and started noticing how many /good/ people I was ignoring for the handful of assholes I'd run across every few months.
-There are genuinely badly written characters in this game and there's no shame in calling them out. The writing team for this game has always had a bad habit of forestalling character development for the sake of hackneyed plot twists and there's only so many times I can sit through it before I start getting annoyed.
-I actually miss clerics stance and find WHM in particular to be exceedingly boring now without it.
-If a server gets to big it deserves to stay locked until the numbers thin out.
-Viera are the one race I /don't/ want in the game after the Aura debacle and those lalafell-esque concepts that were thrown about awhile ago. I'm so sick and tired of the constant addition of cutesy races in this game and still mourn for the monstrous female Xaela we were shown before the official models were released.
I honestly think outfits should be unisex, especially the cash shop items. We already have giant naked moogles running around everywhere, what difference will it make if they're running around in bikinis? The only thing that would need to be changed is the male swimsuits into female but I don't think to change it to a bandeau would be too hard.
TLDR: LET ME DRESS UP LIKE AYMERIC >///<
I completely agree with another poster that Minfillia and Alphinaud get way too much flak, especially the former. While I was never particularly fond of Minfillia and didn't mourn her loss, I appreciated that she had a more diplomatic role and it makes no sense to me why people would give her grief when she was simply a necessary character that handles all of the background work. Alphinaud on the other hand, I feel like its more a matter of taste in his case, but my best guess for the reason why some people find him 'SO' annoying is that they are listening to english voice acting - which I tried once, and let me tell you, it made me immediately hate characters I loved.

The Balmung jokes are the most tired excuse of a meme I have ever come across. I mean, every Liveletter and even on the forum.... people... still... think... its funny...

I do not agree with every mount being capable of flight and I find it ridiculous. I can accept Fat Chocobo since its a comical mount in general but I refuse to use Sleipnir as anything but a ground mount and it hurt my soul to see the PvP horses actually become capable of flight now. Also the Anata elephant... apparently that too. Its absurd.
I also dislike seeing most mounts underwater, especially birds. I realise that ground-air is more difficult but I wish they let you choose your favourite water-based mount and that would automatically be selected while underwater. On a mildly related note, I dislike people swimming in full on armour. Throw on a swimsuit people! Take off the upper portion! Anything at all!!11!1

I wish we could create more than 8 characters per server. I know and admit that 8 is already a pretty generous number, but I would happily pay a premium for some more and think it is a perfectly harmless and profitable addition for those of us who are alt-aholics and love creating a variety of characters with different jobs.
One of my opinions is in regards to the DPS Meta discussions with things like healers being expected to DPS, tanks slotting strength, etc. However I personally think the issue is in regards to something else that is often overlooked.
I'm talking about combat raises. I believe this is the single largest contributor to the DPS meta and the general lack of variety in fight designs. Due to effectively unlimited combat raises, the potential designs for encounters is much limited. After all, the most common way to add a hard break to a fight is with a DPS check, whether it by Byakko's tiger or just a hard "Defeat within x time or boss oneshots everyone at once" Because of this, of course they have to balance around people doing max DPS and thus DPS meta is sustained. No DPS check and people would just raise each other for 20 minutes straight to an easy kill.
I think encounter design would benefit greatly to having a hard limit on the number of raises per attempt, like 2 or 3 or something.
