    GM contacted me

me and my party we’re making our way to an S rank and had “shouted” we were coming. A player pulled early and it was dead before most of us go there. When I commented about it, the player who pulled early proceeded to PM me some very childish vulgarities and I felt that it was uncalled for and ruins the spirit of hunting. So I reported her.

True it may have been childish to report her but to my surprise I was actually PMed in game by a GM to follow up on my report! I found him very professional and really appreciated the direct and immediate response. So thank you Gm Tehmuhsae for assistance in the matter and keep up the good work!

There is a filter in game if you don't like some language. For a pay to play game with mostly adults people should have the right to talk as they want to as long as they don't insult someone directly or degrade them.
For all we know it might have been a teenager acting up on you, and pervert or rude behavior isn't so unnatural amongst lower ages.... so reporting them just for using bad words is the same as finding it offensive that they are teenagers...
In my opinion if you reported that person and he/she didn't insult you then thats a sign of intollerance and you should have just turned on your language filter. If however they DID insult you directly then I guess you did the right thing cuss no one diserves to be insulted for no reason.

^ In the context of this yeah it sounds like intentional insults. The puller who was questioned probably wasn't just saying random swear words. It was a private message to a specific person who they had a disagreement with.

Depends though, I've had pm's before with people sounding drunk and rude without them insulting me directly...so its still ??? to me since I know there's still the possibility of someone just pranking (fail joke but still...).

The existence of the filter does not give anyone else leeway to employ bad language.
Whatever you may think you do not have the right to talk as you want in the game. Like it or not, the rules actually state that you are not allowed to use profanity or offensive language in the game.

Well there is still freedom of speech and most payers are expected to be mature or act mature. So if someone doesn't... I don't get angry... I just realise not everyone is as mature.. Deal with it.. don't explode cuss that won't solve anything.

This is a private game, freedom of speech has no bearing here. If you're expected to be mature then you are also expected to treat people with respect and to be mindful of others. Ie, don't go throwing around vulgar speech to those you don't know.

Doncha just love a game where a swear word can get you a ban or your account suspended because someone is too fragile for a little cuss, even if its not used derogatorily against them but you can buy as much gil and bot to your hearts content and go on for years without worry.

In the case of non-attacking language, maturity is not only being mature to one another but also being mature enough that random vulgarities shouldn't be an issue. I had someone the other day call me a see you next Tuesday for getting a drop they wanted and you know what I did? Continued to play the game as usual because I am a grown up. They just lost my comm, which I had planned on giving them and instead gave it to the healer.

I only draw the line and racial, sexist and homophobic comments. But if someone messes up and says "mother #@%$!&" or "Oh #%$@" I just carry on, again cause I am a grown up and such things are just silly to get all uptight over. But I know more than one person has spoken on reddit about getting banned for just that which is just ridiculous.

Not because someone is too fragile, but because the rules you agree to before starting the game forbid you from using profanity or offensive language in the game.
Breaking rules tend to have consequences. It is one of the things a "grown up" should have learned while doing the growing.

I want to play devil's advocate here. I've played MMO's since Nexon's Dark Ages back in 1997. They had a filter that couldn't be turned off, and would just change bad words the Dev's didn't want to be said in-game, to something entirely different. Specific words like the N word would give you a message saying "You cannot use that language here". But the D word would prompt Darn for example. I understand they have rules set...but why not take the step to prevent it all together?

Obviously you can't...but then when players would attempt to circumvent said filter and type in swear words and hate speech using symbols and retooling, the Dev's would allow said player to get banned or arrested in game.
