Suggestion! Item stats transfer for 2.0

Howdy, partners! Alright... This idea is going to sound weird but I was wondering if perhaps something like this would be possible since other games are starting to do this. Here we go!

Item stat transfer scenario: One side 1, I have this nifty pair of woolen kecks. I love the design of these kecks! Look at the ripples on these pants... and well they're kecks! They're stylish looking pants! However the stats on these pants are dated and old... They're rank 40, lame.

On side 2, I have these felt trousers... God they're freaking ugly! I hate them! but the stats are sooo good! Look at all that VIT and defence! Sadly I gotta wear the ugly gear with better stats if I wanna do my job right.

Simply put. I wanna look my best when I play this game. Therefore, I was wondering if it would be at all possible to add a feature where you could take the stats from side 2 and somehow meld them into side 1.

    HOLD IT FORUM POSTERS!
Don't even start with that materia hogwash. What I'm asking for, is having the ability to wear the type of gear we want with the stats we so desire. Combine this with the new dye system we're getting in 2.0 and I think we could end up having some very stylish looking characters that would still be able perform at their very best.

And Stuff like Ra/Ex gear... Say you got an Ifrit's Battleaxe. Hey cool stats! How about I meld this into a fancy Bhuj because I like Bhujs more than Ifrit's Battleaxe. Well the Bhuj would lose all of its stats but in turn, gain the stats of Ifrit's Battleaxe and would also turn the Bhuj into a Ra/Ex item so you couldn't abuse it by trying to sell it.

Now to prevent abuse of this. You would only be able to meld the stats to an item one time! If you wanted to do it again, you would have to re-obtain the item.

Come on! I know you guys have groaned at one point where you had to say good bye to your precious slops in exchange for an ugly pair of tights. Why not take the stats of those ugly tights and put them into those fancy slops you love so much and then dye it your favorite color!?

You'd look dare I say... Fabulous?

I would rather have a system where you have vanity gear slots that serve no purpose other than to change your appearance. It seems much less... convoluted than having to meld the stats from one piece of gear onto another.

The idea seems nice, but it would really be easier to just make vanity/fashion slots as Raldo suggests.

I'm pretty sure class restrictions would still apply.
