Wasn't the point of these to lesson the "pain" of not getting anything weekly? Then why are they from the third line only? The thing that is pretty hard to get. I'm confused by it.

Friend/recruitment code for special items and things (use before paying first sub) RACN78W5 (updated) info on items here http://sqex.to/Cz9 code is entered via the mogstation.
The point is to be able to choose what gear you want if the weekly one aren't what you wanted.
Exactly, it was getting to the stage where people could potentially win the same "OMG über rare Augmented" stuff multiple times. Or, in my case, keep getting gear for jobs they haven't levelled whilst praying for the gear from the week before or after. This way you take your voucher to the NPC & get exactly the gear item you need. It was a very sensible change.
You must have the luck of the gods because I've played nearly every week since it came out and have never gotten 3 lines. Most of my friends have gotten it once if they've gotten it all, too. I've had the perfect setup multiple times, and always get screwed by RNG.Exactly, it was getting to the stage where people could potentially win the same "OMG über rare Augmented" stuff multiple times. I have to agree with the OP.
Getting 3 lines is rare....very hard at best.....I'm lucky to get 2 lines at most these days.
The Bar was raised a bit too high honestly.
It's supposed to be very rare. The Crafter / Gatherer items granted are clear-cut BiS items. They aren't supposed to be easily acquired.
That said, I do wish there was a (laborious and painful) way for Crafters and Gatherers to manually add these slots onto their gear, potentially making it Untradeable in the process. I intensely dislike the fact that the best DoH gear isn't made by DoH jobs.
