    anyone else getting periodic FPS Lag?

    So my problem is similar to the OP of this old post: "Major FPS lag despite lowest graphics, at low resolutions, with geforce 760 ". Basically, after logging in for about 30-40minutes, my fps would drop from 60+ to 30 for a few seconds before going back up to 60+ again. My fps had been at a constant 60 ever since I was on trial until I cleared Rabanstre last week(the fps drops randomly alot of times during my first run as well, but I just thought it was because there were 24 players in there). These 'fps drops' happen everywhere and not just in towns, and would happen periodically after every 5minutes. Its starting to become a nuisance, especially when I'm in a dungeon. I don't know the exact cause of it though :/

    So far I've tried:
    • updating my graphics card driver
    • changing my battery settings
    • disabling windows search index
    • turning off TOE/LSO on the network card
    • changing my nvidia settings for ffxiv
    • lowering motion physics for monsters, party members and npcs, and disabling field of depth in the in-game graphics settings
    none has worked so far though; I also figured it might be an overheating issue, or dusty fans, but i haven't been able to clean my laptop properly because Acer just doesn't want me to diy their product ;-; I'm considering going directly to their service center to get my laptop cleaned (its really dusty inside anyway)

    I can't use OP's solution in that old post either because I'm running on windows 10 and can't disable the desktop manager :U Is there anything else I can do to stop getting these fps drops?

    my laptop runs on Windows 10 (64bit), Processor Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-6700HQ CPU @ 2.60GHz, 2601 Mhz, 4 Core(s), 8 Logical Processor(s), has a 16GB RAM, and uses GTX960 for my graphics card.

    Good morning and thank you for posting on the Final Fantasy XIV Technical Support Forums.

    Where exactly do you get these fps drops? Is it in the same places every time? Are the frame dips only for a moment or are they sustained?

    If it occurs about 30 minutes after you begin playing, it may be an overheating issue. Are any of the vents on your laptop obstructed, even partially? Does your laptop run off the the battery or is it plugged in?

    If you know how to change the Nvidia settings, try changing the Vsync settings for Final fantasy XIV. Also, try lowering some more graphical settings (even if your GPU can handle it) to see if the problem still remains.

    We hope we can be of assistance in helping you enjoy the exciting world of Final Fantasy XIV!

    It used to be everywhere, and it got worse in dungeons and towns. But yeah it is probably an overheating issue because I just noticed my laptop's vents are on the bottom tray so obviously it was gonna overheat fast :0

    I've since used something sturdy to elevate my laptop a bit from my desk to expose the vents and so far it's been working; there hasn't been frequent drops (except when I happen to be around a large crowd but that's to be expected I suppose) Hopefully the drops won't come again

    @MiniOmegaDragon
    I hope some of the things I did in the first post might be of some use to you ;;

    Thank you for the update AidenElenor,

    I'm glad you were able to find a solution. The frame drops in heavily crowded areas are actually pretty common so I don't think that is connected to your overheating problem.

    This thread will be moved to the 'Closed Concerns' subforum as the thread creator has found a resolution to their issue.

    Thank you for visiting the Final Fantasy XIV Technical Support Forums.
