Drk is high skill and no reward. You have to work hard to manage two resources to do anything competently.
Then WAR gets a button on 90 sec that lets them ignore their resource mechanic altogether.....

Yes, the point here is that DRK should be reworked completely. It's not fair to them at all. They shouldn't have even been made tanks imo.

It's sad to see Dark Knight fall behind - it's not a job I play frequently (it's not even past level 60) but the times I have played were enjoyable.
Unfortunately for the devoted Dark Knights of Eorzea, I've come to believe the developer's policy seems to basically be that if job issues cannot be dealt with through basic potency changes and the job isn't Warrior then it's ignored until the next expansion.

That's not entirely true. DRK is probably the only job that I can say is constantly screwed in patches. But I think that PLD and WAR are in an amazing spot. I firmly believe they should remake DRK to have a better, more complimenting kit. It's sad to see Dark Knight fall behind - it's not a job I play frequently (it's not even past level 60) but the times I have played were enjoyable.

Then we'll be back to "but TBN is great utility, and it being up so frequently justifies DRK's lower damage," or "WAR must be the highest damage dealing tank because reasons." It's a never ending arms race of power creep, self/party utility, and job satisfaction and rivalry with their peers.
SE tipped their hand twice now, however. They've reworked WAR mid-expansion enough with changes to their kit (SiO and 'zerk) to show that, while they might be reluctant to do so, they can change a job's core gameplay mechanics mid-expansion.
PLD has little use for their oath gauge; WAR has ways of ignoring it or reducing it's resource drain; DRK simply lets it hit a break point then does a thing.
My knowledge on the three tanks big damage spamming skills is lacking, but afaik PLD has a minor drain on their MP to do theirs, WAR can manipulate their beast gauge to fully maximize their damage spikes, DRK has to spend two different types of resources to even come close to being able to "spam" their biggest hitting move.
SE has very obviously been given enough information on areas wherein DRK is lacking. SE has shown that they can do something to address core complaints in a job's gameplay. If they do not at least divulge that they are at least doing something to fix this class then they are doing themselves a disservice, as well as one to their customers. We pay a monthly amount of money to enjoy content in a way we find most enjoyable, and for some of us the way in which we get the most enjoyment is being left behind. It's not fair, it's not right, and it's beyond inexcusable at this point.
4.2 Was a good start, SE. Now let's see you respond to DRK feedback and actually do something. Lip service is not enough anymore.

ayyyy, herd u don liek drks. Y u do dis.

We truly are in the DRK ages huh. Bring back Heavensward DRK yeah.

Ah, so the lockening begins.
I've had enough. I got PLD to 60 today and will hopefully have it at 70 soon. But the difference is enormous; firstly, did they even remove anything from PLD in the 4.0 changes? Once you socket back the former skills now roles actions, you basically have pre-4.0 PLD. AND they have an agro chain, a dot chain and a dps chain. On top of shields galore. It's nuts.
I'm definitely not saying nerf PLD. Rather they should just give DRK back everything it lost; Scourge, Shadowskin, the old Reprisal/Low blow.
Bring back Heavensward DRK and make DRK great again!

Technically, PLD lost access to several good cross-class skills, like Stoneskin and Bloodbath. It wouldn't be such a big deal if they weren't that fast to give back the AoE leech to WAR...
