Character creation won't accept any names except random letters like "gggggdfjks"

Steps:
A few days ago, I made a character. Worked fine. I then went to make another. But now, every name I enter brings up a window saying that the name I've chosen is unavailable. I have sat there, more than once, clicking the button to randomly generate a new name, repeatedly, DOZENS of times, and still, it won't accept any. But if I type in a random string of letters like "ggggjdfaskh", THEN it works. I don't have anywhere near 40 toons, and I've tried every world in north america. I am completely flabbergasted.

Most of the randomised names are likely already taken. Even back when I started playing, a lot of those names were already taken.

THANK YOU! That was it exactly. I just assumed it had to be a bug, because I cycled through SCORES of different combinations. Although now I have to wonder why, if it was that simple, the GMs couldn't just tell me that instead of sending me on a wild chocobo-chase to the forums. Ah well.
