Chat settings messed up

This is the second time this has happened, can't remember what I did the last time to fix it. I had been doing the dumb valentione duty trying to talk to my party member, when everything messed up. Was trying to talk in party when it kept switching to alliance and certain letters were missing, and the chat would switch from alliance to yell to shout. Even tried typing in NN, but that kept switching too. Any ideas?

How exactly do you select which chat to use? Do you have any key bindings that you may be accidentally pressing that switches the chat?

You can try typing "/p" and then the message to chat directly with your party, this may be a way around the issue.

is there a way to fix this? This just happened to me and I cant use the chat because every letter I type prompts group, whisper, yell, etc

Ok, it just happened again yesterday. I always click on the chat tab with my mouse to change the different chat rooms, then just hit enter or click the chat box with my mouse. The only way I could fix it was to completely log out of the game, but this would be bad if I were in the middle of a dungeon fight and trying to talk to the group........................... I don't use any keybinds for chat.

Can you please tell us step by step what happens prior to, during, and after this occurs? Also, can you please explain what exactly you mean by "missing letters"

OK, I either click the chat box with mouse or just hit enter, then start typing. Say I want to type out the word " what" in NN. The w will show up in NN then the chat setting will change to " yell " I can type out w or another single letter. When trying to type another letter the setting will change to " shout". So I guess by saying missing letters would be incorrect, sorry. I think I may have found a way to fix this, not sure yet, but it hasn't happened since I changed some things. I have keybinds 1- = then F1- F12 then z- n - l go backwards including the , . / ' ; and the l then alt + z - alt + n alt +, -l then ctrl + z-n and ctrl + , -l. I then went to the chat log and replaced ALL of the keybinds with mouse button 4 as that's what I use for my Jump, after applying the mouse button to each chat setting the previous keybind was removed and then lastly went back to movement to apply the mouse 4 button for jump so the only keybind applicable was the enter button. IF I still have problems I will come back to relay them, but IF everything works out fine I will not be back Thanks for your trouble.
