Linkshell Master gone, Linkshell name lost in limbo

I am, or rather was until recently, part of a linkshell on the Midgardsormr server. Been part of it for a while but it has no Leaders, just a master that has been inactive for almost two years now. Since no one can invite anyone else to the linkshell, we are forced to make a new one. We want to reuse the name of the previous one. The problem is that since the linkshell Master doesn't play the game anymore, we have no way of disbanding the linkshell and reusing the name. I tried contacting support in game multiple times only to receive varying degrees of vague and unhelpful answers. A few of them suggested making a post on the forums so here I am. Can anything be done about this or are we just plain out of luck unless we can get a hold of the linkshell master and convince them to come back just to disband for us?

You’re out of luck. They can’t just magically take away Linkshells from people because the majority wants them to. He’s still the owner and the person who created the name in the first place.

They are not the one who created the name in the first place. The original creator left the linkshell some time ago and passed on ownership to someone else so we wouldn't have this issue. The problem is that this new person decided to leave the game without giving ownership to someone else. We even managed to contact this person outside of the game through friends and they don't want to have to resub to the game just to transfer ownership to someone else.

There I on occasion various "call back" events where you can invite long gone people on your friendlidt to log back in free for a short period. Also at least at some point there has been non friend related "call back weekends" that offer few free days to old gone players. If this master is not against popping in as long as he can do it free, keep an eye out for these opportunities.
