Your Tactic for New Wards

So, I am on the fence between trying to relocate to a large in Shirgone on Tuesday or going for a Mist Large.

My gut tells me that the probability of relocating to a large in the mist is way higher than Shirogane - but then it's not a shiney new Shirogane house.

Anyone else having the same dilemma? I don't want another gut-wrenching 4.1 housing experience lol.

I'd focus more on which one you like more aesthetically. From what I hear from Shirogane owners, the interior can be difficult to work with as it's not neutral colors. I get Shirogane is the hot new thing, but I have a Mist house, and I love it.

Mist > Shiro. Oustide and inside. The " Shiro is the newest. " is exaggerated and to me not a good enough reason to pick it. I feel stuck with an Asian theme with shiro houses, which isn't bad, but I prefer Mist over all. Again this is all preference, but the Mist larges are better than any other. The yards and space around them cannot be beat. Shiro larges you're facing the wrong way, but I could live with them of course.

Go look in both mansions. I love shirogane, but I found the Glade mansions had my favourite interior. Also the Green/Red/Purple aesthetic of shirogane houses looks like Ugly Christmas and reeeeally limits the furniture you can make look good (if you'll notice, a lot of the nice shiro house pics have heavily edited colour filters lmao-- we all know it doesn't look that good in reality!).

I didnt have an issue with mine i went with the masonwork wallpaper upstairs with an offical office theme and the downstairs with the cottage wallpaper relaxed residence theme and dont think the shiro interior looks bad aside from the stair case that has a green triangle but thats easily covered.

Over all I preferred the weather and sun lighting in Shiro more than the other places and since I take alot of outdoors pictures that one. XP

So in the end OP, pick what you want :3

Oh for sure! I know some people manage a nice look for them. But you'll notice those are both very neutral walls to choose. Could you imagine how most of the coloured wallpapers look???? (I know, I tried with a small house me and my sis had. Eventually we gave it away to a friend 'cause we didn't like any of the colour schemes we tried with it, XD). It is unfortunate though, because I love the area aesthetic. Lavender beds is a decent second though, so is why we're hoping to move the FC house there. X)

My FC's strategy: Ignore Shirogane since even though I and my FC mates agree it's shiny and awesome, everyone and their mog are going to be trying to purchase/relocate to the new wards. It's our first house purchase so we don't want to have to stress over whether we can get one or not during the Great 4.2 Land Rush™.

We're going to scout out the others this week to see where we want to go and then plan to grab one there. Hopefully a medium if we can raise enough gil in time, but a small will work until we can upgrade later.

We decided to go after the less popular Lavender Beds or Goblet, because to the FC as a whole, it doesn't matter where we live as long as we're together. As long as we get a large, it'll be a win! So I'm going after LB first, and if I get unlucky there I'll shoot for Goblet.

Just to clarify since SE hasn't been very clear, but private owners can still relocate? Also if they can which district would fit a tavern themed house best? I have a small in shirogane and wanted to upgrade to a medium.

As long as they don't further change the functionality of things before the houses go live, yes private owners can relocate. As for a tavern I'd personally say LB/Mist. LB has that need deep woods tavern feel while Mist you could go for the seaside tavern look.
