Thread: missed 7 months, pretty lost.

ok so situation is:

spent the last 7 months in afghanistan, been able to read a little about updates and such but for the most part i am completely lost. logged in and all my gear says dated (no idea what that means, does it not work anymore?) materia spiritbond, no more physical levels, etc. i've tried looking through some of the info to try and update myself but written word and actual workings in game do differ.

basically what i'm asking is how the heck do things work now?

Archer is pimp. Grab a Chocobo. Join the Immortal Flames. Make new not-dated gear by looking up new recipes. And use your old gear to grind XP on to turn into materia, which you can slot on your new not-dated gear.

This is totally irrelevant because you pretty much nailed the key things to do on returning (welcome back!), but what's your slightly creepy sig about out of interest?

Chocobo costs seals, Goobbue is free, so you as long as you have a lvl 30 class, you might as well get the Goobbue.

Oh and the Maelstrom is by far the best Grand Company

"Dated" gear just means that it was made with an old recipe before the revamps and that you can't attach materia to it. Otherwise it's perfectly usable gear.

If you want information on how Materia works, check out this section on the lodestone. Aside from that just try it out and it should make sense without too much trouble.

Classes got some major revamps, so take a look at your new abilities, what moves you can/can't cross-class now, and read the descriptions for your moves. You can do combos with your moves now for different effects based on the move by fulfilling the bonus conditions for it (ie: If a move gets a bonus from the front, you have to do it from the front of the mob to start/continue a combo).
