    Shadows loading slowly since patch 4.2

    After downloading patch 4.2 I've noticed my shadows are loading extremely slowly in the heavensward zones (haven't visited stormblood yet and 1.0 zones seem to be unaffected)

    All my settings are set to high and shadow LOD is disabled, I've installed the latest nvidia drivers(which didn't help) and I'm running ffxiv without any third party software or overlays.

    Nothing has changed on my computer in the time between pre patch and post patch and I'm fairly sure this shadow issue wasn't around before as it's very noticeable and distracting.

    I can provide more info if necessary or if someone already knows a fix that would be great.

    Good morning and thank you for posting on the Final Fantasy XIV Technical Support Forums.

    Is this the only graphical glitch you've experienced so far? Can you check other areas and see if they have the same issue (you mentioned you haven't tried Stormblood areas yet)?

    Does changing the shadow settings (even if you are turning them down) make any difference?

    Hi Einmimiria and thanks for replying. I've done some research into the issue and it looks like it's just how the game engine has always behaved. Somehow I've gone all these years without noticing it.
    There's several older youtube videos and first hand accounts from other players that report the same behaviour and I asked a friend with a high spec PC to also check and he reported back with the exact same results of shadows not fulling loading until you land and then several seconds before they pop in.

    Thank you for the update Kule,

    At least we know that you are not experiencing a graphical glitch, I haven't noticed this myself in-game either.
