I don't see how me being sad for things having turned out this way is having a bad attitude. Or are you going to tell me that I don't have the right to feel sad either?

And about what you imply, I'll be perfectly happy enlightening you about any further doubt that you may have about what happened. Although I doubt I can add much more when I already CTRL+C CTRL+V'd the entire conversation, adding only paragraphs to make it more readable.

But hey, I had to take "irrelevant", "pushy" and "rude" on the last few hours. If you want to imply something else about me, now is the time.

Passive-aggressiveness aside, if you do have anything else you'd like to see clarified, please construct a proper question and I'll read it when I wake up.

I am totally for helping each other and help is a good thing, but first couple of days of patch I suggest avoiding explaining mechanics in stuff other than savage/EX...that is unless people specifically request it.

I actually prefer going in blind and learning the mechanics of the regular content. I usually go on day one, but even then usually there is still at least one person trying to explain mechanics. So I get where that party was coming from...I would have simply had my chat window closed or /p muted and ignored you though.

I would still appreciate your kindness to try to help, but I am not interested in it within the first couple of days of the patch. I have fun figuring out the mechanics together with my boyfriend when we go into new fights.

Now should anyone act rude to someone who offers help? NO of course not, but just accept it if the majority of the party wishes you to stop when the content is still really new and the majority of people are all new to the fights.

I mean I won't be rude to someone offering the help, but nothing irks me more than a couple of hours into the patch on day one and having someone already trying to force feed me mechanics on regular content. If we have to wipe a couple of times then we wipe a couple of times...day one and two are basically a free pass for that in my opinion.

Technically if a person has fun figuring out the mechanics on their own then yes you are spoiling the fight by explaining them without asking first and some people don't want that. First couple days of patch in my opinion is sort of the free zone where you can DF blind and people shouldn't be getting upset.

I am sure I am not the only one who thinks like that, but I just expect first few days to be no pressure blind runs and I also expect mistakes from others, wipes, vote abandons, and I don't waste time getting upset about it.

Just my opinion on it, but yeah no one should be rude to someone offering help. They just need to say "I want to try it myself." not throw insults over it.

Do you really not see it? She quoted a rather damning part, you're basically implying that everyone in the thread who responded with their personal preferences for blind runs is selfish and terrible (again, all of them I saw were people stipulating that this is during the early days of a patch only. Not stuff that is weeks and months and years old). It's considered basic courtesy to give people that chance when content is still less than a week old. I emphasis because people seem to keep brushing over that part of everyone's comments for some reason.

i play videogames since the middle of the nineties.

is it important or should anyone care about it

    NOPE!

do you like it if someone at the cinema a seat behind you tells the last 5 minutes of the movie while the trailers are running at the beginning?

well i can see that you just want to help and its a nice part of your attitude. keep it
but i can understand the other one too. he/she overreacts no question.

You went straight from "I don't agree with this playstyle" to a multi paragraph "Woe is me! I'm trying to help people but all they care about what they want! Im just going to be a robot in parties now because no one likes help anymore!" You don't need to be a robot, there are many ways to help a party. When I first ran O8 for the my cohealer was the only person who had done it before. As everyone announced "new", "first time", "{same}" etc, they popped a champagne bottle and told us we were in for a pretty fight. On patch morning seeing someone that upbeat and excited was all I needed to dive in.

This tier ends is a highly anticipated fight involving a very popular character, and you only get the high of beating him for the first time once (technically twice if you're running savage I suppose, but the vast majority of us will never see him there). In a week everyone will expect everyone else to have every mechanic down by heart- if you offer advice it'll likely be received a whole lot better then, and even now you are still free to offer help...just don't be crushed if people turn you down. Its not a "the community doesn't care about helping each other" deal as much as "the community wants to enjoy that new car smell while its here" one.

So you were just looking for acknowledgement to feel better?

Starting a discussion means not, everybody have to agree your point. It means to expect and accept, that people can have a different opinion than you.

What you currently do here is the same as you describe in your opening post of what you have done in the game. Your point is "My way is the onliest true way" and people answer -> no, its not!

To start, yes, the teller sounds absolutely ridiculous and should have left you alone. The "honey"s and "sweetie"s are particularly grating and, considering they likely assumed your gender based on your character, patronizing. They were obnoxious and borderline harassing you, and it was an ugly reaction to have based on one thing you said.

Despite that, I do feel like this is also a case where you just don't see how you may come off to others.

I'm not suggesting that you are a rude person, OP, but your comment before leaving the group comes off as exceedingly snide, considering it was your parting remark. If you had even just left out the whole "I've played MMOs since 2004" bit, I doubt this would have happened to the same degree. No one needs to know that about you. You may not have intended it to come off elitist, but if so many here are willing to tell you that your comment sounds off-putting, then maybe you should take that to heart and try to understand why your statement sounds haughty rather than being so quick to resign yourself to the "sad state of affairs" in MMO gaming. You don't have to submit to what you perceive as shifting attitudes, you can simply take this experience and the responses in this thread to learn how to have more positive interactions and not set people off by the things you say.

If I was in that run with you, I'm the type of player that would have accepted your advice. Unfortunately, you're going to run into people who are prickly, but that's when you take a step back and let people play how they want, so long as you're unbothered by their gameplay aptitude and they're not bothering you any further. It's no reason to resign to negativity and refuse to interact in the future, should there be people who would appreciate your input.

This happened to me when Rabanstre came out. We wiped 4 times to 2nd boss before I asked, simply, "does anyone have any questions? " (smiley included, srsly). It set off an instant flame war and the alliance vote disbanded after the next wipe before I could even clarify that I was, in fact, offering to help and was not, in fact, an elitist agent of the Fun Police.

I mean it's fine if people want to tackle a fight blind, they should have that opportunity. That is my preference as well, in fact. But I don't think there's some absolute right that for the first week you get to just force people to tag along while you wipe endlessly because you're stubborn. If you want to do that you really should be in PF, or with your FC, or friends, or whatever.

I have to agree with most people here, in this case you were the inconsiderate one. Offering to help is valuable thing to have, but patch days are different. That's when everyone is new, and everyone is allowed to not know things, to find out on their own. Especially in content that's meant for everyone. Pointing out some single things people don't seem to get after the fact might be ok. But making mistakes to learn is enjoyable in and off itself and is a patch week specialty. One wipe means people have seen it now and know the next time. If you keep wiping to same spot and people don't seem to get why, then offer the help. Let people have the same learning experience you had just because your RL happened to give you opportunity to step in earlier.

If you say 'pls' because it's shorter than 'please', I say 'no' because it's shorter than 'yes'.

No one wants to know the mechanics of a fight on the very first day of the patch. Running something new, getting to experience it for themselves is what makes day one runs so fun.

The mechanics are so easy too, they'll catch on after seeing it once or twice, there was never reason to infodump on them.
