It's nice to see SE bring back PvP Teams to the Feast. It seems like they spent a good amount of time developing many of the features found in the PvP Team tab. However, as it's currently implemented, it does have three major potential problems for PvP Teams specifically:
1. There is still no real incentive to queue this new mode.
As of right now, there isn't much incentive to even give this mode much of a try in season 7, let alone in the preseason. SE has mentioned that "High-ranking teams will earn rewards and the right to enter tournaments", but what does this even mean? How are these tournaments going to happen? And what are these rewards? There's a severe lack of information here.
Solution
Give players more information and real incentives to queue this mode. Not only for the high-ranking teams, but also incentive for lower-ranked teams to queue, as well. Provide more information on these "tournaments" and the direction that SE plans to take PvP Teams.
2. The Feast (Team Ranked Match) will struggle to have active queues.
As seen with Seasons 1-4 of Light Party, this mode constantly struggled to have participation. The PvP community is still simply not large enough to have PvP Teams be active through out the entire season.
Solution
Instead of opening up the entire season to queue for this mode, give it time windows in which teams are allowed to queue for it. For example, only allowing teams to queue for 6 hour windows every other weekday, or on weekends (preferably during North America's primetime). This will shove all teams to queue at the same time and keep the mode active. Another benefit of this will prevent two teams to wintrade against each other during off-peak hours.
3. Team members can freely join and leave teams as they please.
This already somewhat destroys the point of registering a team in the first place. If there's no repercussions for members leaving and joining teams, players can essentially sell team slots on their roster for rewards, or experienced players can even sell boosts to other teams. And these are just 2 examples of dozens of potential problems.
Solution
As another thread mentioned, each player on the team would have a personal rating as well, and this personal rating must be within X amount of the team rating in order to be eligible to receive rewards. Another potential solution could be to disallow new members to join a team once the team has reached a certain rating. For example, once a team has climbed to Silver Tier, the team is no longer eligible to add new members (even if they started with only 4 members).
Thanks for reading my feedback regarding PvP teams and I hope SE takes the necessary precautions to prevent these potential problems.
