It's a given these days that this society in general can't appreciate things. They think they are entitled to something...when they aren't. It's SE's game also not yours, take or leave it. Enjoy it or not..need not spout hate for a gift.

They called the patch maintenance...bug fixes. That's why they didn't announce it further. And EVERYONE by now knows the games road map and what to expect from now till 2.0.

If you are looking for huge blocks of content it won't be any time soon. The large numbered patches will keep us busy...if you desire to complain...why don't you um...play a little less?

Sides there's a TON to do. Materia, crafting, achievements...etc etc...

The amount of effort in making this Goobbue a mount probably didnt take much resources, since it was already designed to be in the game for the Uldah starting cutscene. Just add a saddle on its head and voila, instant mount.

Seeing people saying this is a sign of bad things to come in the future makes me laugh.

I have a few friends, that have been playing for months, that haven't joined a GC yet (for many reasons) and aren't close to getting a chocobo. This is a great present for them.

For the rest of us, I think we needed a little bizarre nonsense Final Fantasy humor in our daily adventuring lives!

It's no surprise people who can't appreciate a gift or freebie are going all out throwing hissy fits on here, just like any other time the devs try to make a gesture of goodwill or thanks. It's the equivalent of a 5 year old throwing a tantrum in the store because they got a chocolate bar but they wanted ice cream.

Only positive to the tantrum is the 5 year old eventually grows out of it.
