Am I the only one that finds it very disturbing that even with 105 retrieval, that sub is STILL getting the message "Poor retrieval levels result in disappointing yield."
OP, I just want to clarify that I'm not the founder of this spreadsheet. I don't have the name off hand to give proper credit, but I don't want to claim what's not mine.
Thank you for adding all those links though. Very handy to have on the front page!
A mentor stole my house, slapped me across the face, and raised my ping from 15 to 30. Literally unplayable.

I have been testing out for the last 2 weeks and right now I am of the opinion that C,C,Sly,C an ideal build for otter Farming.
With the 80 speed a mission to and from sector 7 is just over 1 day 6 hrs, and the 140 luck is giving 2 loot rolls every mission. My other two subs have been using a
C, Sly, C, Sly for a Higher exploration of 180 but the lower Favor of 90 rarely results in a second loot roll, and mission time is extended to 1 day 21 hours.
Aside from the RNG gate that is weather, the double roll and short mission time seems to put the C,C,Sly,C build as almost ideal.
Does this match up with other peoples general ideas on how these subs act?
I wanted to ask if a C,U,U,C build has been tested for Otter farming? I have sent these build ones to sector 7 and I can say that 110 favor will do for 2 trys but I'm not sure if 30 retrieval is sufficient.
Someone just advised me the following: "So go for a high surveillance and favor for best results. You won't need to worry about retrieval as all that seems to do is increase the size of the stack of items you get, and rare drops don't stack -- in general you just get one of those at a time no matter how high or low your retrieval is, so you're not going to get a stack of 10 Abroader Otters no matter what. Take enough range to get to your desired sector(s) and consider speed to be your second dump stat after retrieval."
So if you aim at rare items, retrieval might not be helpful. And I am tempted to di C U U S build. But I see your CUUC build's point as well. Using the C instead of S for the bridge can give 110 speed instead of 70 speed from CUUS. And the loss in favor is only 10, 110 for CUUC compared with CUUS' 120.

You may as well try C, U, U, U build then for the hunter boat. It would have a far higher Surveillance at 140, Faster at a speed of 100. I would expect it to be just at 24 hours a mission.AerisVII

Quantity over Quality considering the Abroder Otter is 1 per trip to best that any one can prove.
Keep in mind that one of the reasons that the CCSyC set is edging out over the rest at the moment is due to the high favor rating that's allowing that second anomaly to spawn, followed by its fairly high Speed. We had an interesting report of the CSySySy hull recently that managed to snag an Otter off of a second anomaly:
Being able to spawn that second anomaly effectively doubles the efficiency of any sub that travels to a specific destination. Considering how fast Kamacite Ore is dropping in value, it's definitely worth spending the money for a single Syldra Bow at this point.

C,U,U,U is inferior in every expect lower serveillance, speed, and favor. How can it be better? You may as well try C, U, U, U build then for the hunter boat. It would have a far higher Surveillance at 140, Faster at a speed of 100. I would expect it to be just at 24 hours a mission.

The CUUC would be a perfectly reasonable ship to use if you want to farm Deep-Sea Site 7 (W) exclusively. With 110 Favor for double anomalies and a blistering 110 Speed, It'll definitely put that 170 Surveillance to good use during its 1 day, 1 hour, and 36 minute voyage. Considering how cheap the ship costs to produce, a single drop will more than pay for itself.
If you're looking to farm three potentially profitable zones in a 2 day trip, another setup to consider would be the UUUC submarine. Meeting the 145 Surveillance requirement and sitting exactly on the 100 Favor stat, it should (in theory) still spawn double anomalies while farming the following route:
Neolith Island (I) > The Cobalt Shoals (K) > Deep-Sea Site 7 (W)
A similar result can be made with a full Coelacanth CCCC build, but the differences would be negligible. The voyage would take 1 day, 19 hours, and 13 minutes, putting it in the 2 day checkup window.
The viability of these last two ships hinges on whether 100 Favor spawns two anomalies or not.
