14x Ice Clusters and 1x Abroader Otter found in the Deep-Sea Site 7 (W). Shiptype CCSyC.

Just a reminder that 105 or above favor is always worth it for that second anomaly.

Edit: A thought occurred to me, Auric. When it comes to second anomalies, what's the breakdown for the weather type percentages if we include the failures?

Edit 2: Based on your table above for Deep-Sea Site 7:

    Volcanic - 53 Instances - 34.2%
    CSCFIFFE - 65 Instances - 41.9%
    Strong Currents - 21 Instances - 13.6%
    Clear & Calm - 16 Instances - 10.3%

Maybe we should treat it as a weather effect that happens on second anomalies exclusively.

That's certainly one way to think about it, and since so far it looks completely random (or based on some stat we can't affect*) it might as well be. But I think the game is rolling for success mining that second node before it even considers weather since we don't get a weather notice at all if we get CSCFIFFE. From our point of view, though, it might as well be weather!!

*I suggest that it's based on some stat for the sector that we can't directly see or affect because on my first set of runs (the ones where I was going to three sectors per trip) the percentages of CSCFIFFE results for Sunken Vault and Wreck of Discovery I were substantially lower than that for DSS7, which makes me think there's a hidden "difficulty" rating for each sector, perhaps based on surveillance. But it's NOT the star rating (which would make sense!) because Sunken Vault is also a 5-star sector so if CSCFIFFE is based on star ratings it should have the same miss chance at DSS7 and the data says otherwise.

I suggest that this hidden "difficulty" rating might be based on surveillance because in my data there might be a slight reduction in CSCFIFFE based on Surveillance rating, but if it exists it's a very small effect, and there's still a LOT of CSCFIFFE happening with my highest-surveillance sub (CUUC, 170 surveillance), and the absolute highest surveillance you can get with 105+ Favor is 175. The CUCY build has stats of 175 Surv/20 Ret/40 Speed/140 Range/110 Favor but I haven't built any because it just doesn't seem worth it for a possible very minor reduction in CSCFIFFE over the CUUC subs I already have.

Honestly right now it feels like that CSCFIFFE chance is deliberately engineered to keep the Abroader Otters scarce, which is irritating.

    Hi!

I can't figure out which parts to build for my two submersibles. I hope you can help me!
I used the calculator that was linked here (https://mr-purrs.neocities.org/subme...arts-calc.html), but I'm not sure which stats I need for what.

I also cannot build many parts (very small FC), so I would like to avoid building parts twice. So for example not two Syldra Aftcastles. And I can't build all the parts available to switch them around for what I want to get. I know that I probably can't efficiently farm items like this, but I also don't need to. I just want to be able to get the items. ^^

I would like to build one sub that can get rare items (So surveillance 135-145? Range min. 64 to get to the last area? Favor min. 105?), and one that is average or can maybe get multiple normal items (Higher range and retrieval - but how much? And still min. Favor of 105?).
Does this even make any sense?
Because when I use the calculator I can't get anything good without overlapping parts. And before I just start to build anything, I would like know what I SHOULD build to make my submersibles not completely useless.

    Thank you for your help.

I noted that I'm running a straight CCCC sub a few posts up.

Last night it hit DS7 (No luck) and Neolith... and one on of its Neolith hits it picked up TWO Colossus slabs. I never saw anyone reports a multiple pick up of those before. Thought folks might like to know.

    Heres number crunching I did:

You want 105 Favor for higher nodes to get 2nd retrieve chances.

You want high surv to have a chance of getting the rarer stuff.

To hit both kamacite nodes, you need 84 range.
To hit Otter node, you need 39 range.
To hit Otter + 1 Kamacite node, you need 67 or 76 range.
To hit boules + 1 kamacite node, you need 73 or 91 range.
To hit 3-4 Polyp/orchestrion/assorted item notes, you need 88-110 range.

I played with math on stuff and found:

CSySySy is the best setup for hitting Sunken Vault + 1 Kamacite node
CCWSy is the best setup for hitting 3-4 assorted nodes. Its very much a slow, lumbering freighter.
CCWC is perfect for hitting Otter + 1 kamacite. It has the best speed you're going to get on a 105+ favor sub, enough range to hit Deep7 + Trench (it has 70 and needs 67), the surv needed for otter and adequate retrieve for the other node.
CSySyC is probably your best bet if you only want to hit Deep7. 50 range, enough surv and favor and the same 80 speed.

For your situation, the reality is that to hit 105 favor and 130 surv, without tanking retrieval, you're looking at a very few combinations of parts.

    https://gyazo.com/18fd042cd18cae5ad6334d5ebc926e79

Theres only one sub build that doesnt use the same class part in multiple slots, and thats

    UCSSy
    130 surv, 95 ret, 40 speed, 95 range, 115 favor

As an aside, as someone who has done 90% of my FC's ship/sub crafting, its probably significantly cheaper to make multiple coel/whale parts than a single syldra part.

Tonight, had a bit of luck with my CCSyC submarine.
Sent it to Deep Sea Site 7, then to The Rimilala Shelf in one trip.
Both Otter and Kamacite were retrieved on this run after 3-4 trips with this combination of parts.

I'd like to hear more from you all, what do you think.

    Hey guys,

I m a bit confused. Can anyone tell me the differences between Surveillance and Retrieval? Which of them gives me a higher chance of finding rare items?

Surveillance affects the rarity of the item you're collecting - there are different thresholds for the type of items a certain rating will bring (common, uncommon, rare, etc) - this is the stat you want to prioritize if you're looking for otters or like colossus slabs, kamacite.

Retreival just affects the amount of items you're bringing back.

After nearly a month of data collecting, here's the info I have on the dreaded "CSCFIFFE" ("Current sub condition found insufficient for further exploration") message we sometimes get on our second anomaly. All this data was taken from trips straight to DSS7 and back. Raw data is up on my Google sheet.

    Total runs counted: 227
    Total CSCFIFFE: 92
    Percentage: 41%
    Otters: 7

    CSCFIFFE frequency by build
    Total CUUC trips: 120
    Total CSCFIFFE, CUUC: 48
    Percentage: 40%
    Otters: 3

    Total trips, CUSC: 68
    Total CSCFIFFE: 28
    Percentage: 41%
    Otters: 2

    Total trips, CYYC: 33
    CSCFIFFE: 13
    Percentage: 39%
    Otters: 2

CSCFIFFE percentage by first weather encountered
Strong currents on first anomaly total: 68
Strong currents followed by CSCFIFFE: 26
    Percentage: 38%

    Volcanic total: 109
    Volcanic then CSCFIFFE: 45
    Percentage: 41%

    Clear and Calm total: 50
Clear and Calm then CSCFIFFE: 42%

    CSCFIFFE by repair level

Total trips starting fully repaired: 72
    CSCFIFFE: 31
    Percentage: 43%

Total trips starting with wear: 155
    CSCFIFFE: 61
    Percentage: 39%

The takeaway here seems to be that the chance of getting CSCFIFFE on the second anomaly of Deep Sea Site 7 is a FLAT 40% NO MATTER WHAT YOU DO. Thanks for nothing, Square.

Looking at just the return on Abroader Otters, my subs found a total of 454 anomalies, of which 92 were CSCFIFFE on the second try. That means my subs got 362 chances to roll on otters, of which 7 were successful, for an overall drop chance of 2% per anomaly. I got 50 "Clear & Calm" weather results on the first anomaly (22%), and 21 "Clear and Calm" on the second anomaly (9%), for a total of 71 "Clear & Calm" results on all attempts (16% of total.) Of the 50 Clear & Calm results on the first anomaly, six produced otters, for a drop rate of 12%, and for the 21 Clear & Calm on the second anomaly, 1 produced an otter, a 5% drop rate. The overall drop rate from all Clear & Calm weathers was 10%.

Overall conclusion: the drop rate on Abroader Otters is terrible and there's not much we can do about it.

There's only one more thing I'm considering checking but it's probably a wild goose chase. I was wondering if the flat 40% rate is locked to some specific ship part. All my three test builds had Coel Hulls and Coel Bridges. I did a quick search on the sub builder tool and there's only one build with the necessary minimum stats (Surv. 145 and Favor 105) that doesn't use these two parts, and it's the UUUY build. I'm considering converting a couple subs to UUUY and/or CUUY just to see if there's ANYTHING that can be done to make that flat 40% failure rate budge, but I don't have very high hopes.
