    Unable to Understand this Message

    Hello,

Does anyone know what this message means? I have high favor but am unable to get another anomaly? Is this an RNG element? Trying to figure out what build is optimal for otter farming.

    See message and build below:

With this same build, I even have a "clear and calm" and yet the same message. Just wondering if i should try to build for more favor or if it's just RNG at this point.

Honestly, I don't think any of us have a clear idea on what's causing the exploration of the second anomaly to fail right now. For a while, I personally was thinking it had something to do with Surveillance or Favor being used as an HP value (reduced by weather or by item rarity), the submersible repair condition being too low, or even the weather condition halting the exploration.

There was a post a couple pages back that had logs recording the repair level, favor/surveillance rating, and weather conditions for every instance of a double anomaly spawn and successful/failed exploration attempt. We're not... seeing a correlation with any of those theories. At this point, we're chalking it up to RNG unless someone has a better idea.

With regard to that message, which I call "CSCFIFFE", I've been getting it a lot with my C-U-Y-C build subs, and I've been failing to get otters, even though all my subs' stats are at least at the necessary minimums based on the results posted here. I've linked to a google sheet with my results from the last three test runs of my 12 subs, all with the same CUYC build, in case anyone wants to look for patterns. The one thing I can see is that "CSCFIFFE" happens WAY more often on DSS7 than the other two sectors I've been hitting on the same trip (Wreck of Discovery and Sunken Vault). For the most recent set of runs that came in today, I made sure all the subs were fully repaired across the board before I sent them out (except the Mellow Yellow, which I overlooked). For my next run, which will come in late Friday night, I've changed the sector order to visit DSS7 first; if there is some kind of "wear and tear" going on that might be contributing to all those misses, perhaps going to DSS7 first will reduce the number of them that happen, but notice that even a fully repaired sub got a miss on the first sector visit (Sunglow) so even if full repairs helps increase odds of a hit, that's no guarantee of a successful double hit, as it may be that the sub is taking "damage" just going from the home base to the first sector location. Also note that the third sector to be visited has a lot fewer misses than DSS7 does, even though the ship would be more damaged. So I'm scratching my head a bit. I'm thinking of swapping the Unkiu Stern for a Whale Stern to improve my Retrieval score as maybe that also has a minimum value keeping me from getting otters, but someone said they got an otter with a CWCC build (also 40 retrieval) and a CCCC build (45 retrieval) and I got one myself with my old sub build, a UUUC (50 retrieval.) So possibly I've just been majorly unlucky in my rolls!

Have you observed two anomalies spawning from a UUUC ship in Deep-Sea Site 7 (W) voyage?

It was a single anomaly only (Favor 100)

    Hello!

My submersibles are not at level 50 yet (only lvl 10 and 28), but I don't want to build too many parts that I won't be using when it's at level cap, because I'm in a very small FC and it takes quite long as is expensive to build a part.
So I have a few questions, I hope you can answer them. I've already searched this thread and elswhere, but still couldn't find everything I would like to know.

    - What is the minimum range to reach the highest sectors? For example, if you only want to reach one sector per trip. Range can get very low with different parts and I've read that you need about 20 range to reach the lowest sectors. That would obviously not be enough to even reach the higher ones I suppose.

    - Is 145 surveillance good for a chance at the rarest items? I've read that you need 135 or 145. Does favor influence getting rare items or only the chance of anomalies? So if you would try to get high surveillance for rare items, does favor matter for it?

    - I have two submersibles. Is it good to make one with high surveillance to get rarer items and another one with average stats or high range/retrieval, but less surveillance?

    Thank you. ^^

I guess for a ship that's meant to exclusively target Deep-Sea Site 7 (W), I'll have to favor CUUC then. I didn't see a fit that's viable at 105 Favor and 100 Favor doesn't seem to spawn double anomalies.

    - 64 is the longest distance for a single destination (Stone Temple (AC)).

    - 145 is acceptable. It's the minimum value for the Abroader Otter, so we've been focusing on having that as a minimum stat for any subs we build. A stat of 110 Favor influences whether you get a second drop from a sector. The chances of an item being normal or HQ is influenced by Surveillance (they're considered separate item entries in the loot table).

    - Kamacite Ore is the only real item that's being harvested in bulk at this time. If you're in need of farming that ore, building a submarine with high Retrieval and a Surveillance of 135 would be a good idea. Otherwise, CCSyC for an all-around ship or a ship dedicated to farming a specific sector would be a better use of your time.

Edit: I've been working with a friend on getting their submersibles up to snuff. While doing so, I'm taking the time to figure out a general progression with regards to fits while reducing waste. The only problem is that I'm looking at it in a vacuum without the regard for schematic accessibility. I'm also going to be favoring a steady progression towards a CCSyC fit.

    Rank 1 - SSSS
    Rank 15 - UUUS
    Rank 17 - UUUU
    Rank 35 - CUWC
    Rank 45 - CCSyC

A full Unkiu is just... so broken, lmao.
