Thanks! Funny thing is, I got some kamacite. In the meantime, I changed nothing at the subs. And now they don't bring anything. Can't really explain this lol.Kamacite Ore does indeed exclusively drop from the Rimilala Shelf (V) and Flickering Dip (Y). We've speculated in this thread that the minimum requirement for the item is around 135 Surveillance (at least, it has been the most consistent so far). The drop rate is on the rarer side, but having either a faster boat or a hauling boat to hit the zones usually yields more drops over time. Like I mentioned above, a shiptype that I might suggest looking into would be a CWWC ship due to their tendency to explore two anomalies per zone during their 3 day, 11 hour voyages.

It's a dice roll every time. The ore is just on wheel'o'loot as long as you meet the minimum surveillance, but it doesn't guarantee the drop. I think I've gotten ore two of the dozen-ish times at 135 surv.

Am I correct in concluding that 135 is the consensus for minimum surveillance for rare loot (kamacite, Otter, etc.)?
135 Surveillance works for Kamacite but I think you'd be safer at 145 for the Otter. There haven't been any reports of ships with 135 surveillance getting Otters.
As for what's the "point" of the Syldra parts -- the idea is to be able to mix and match to get the kind of ship you want to run. If you look at each of the stats for the various parts you'll notice they all have tradeoffs, where an increase in one stat is paired with a decrease in another. Each of the Syldra parts is best in its class *for what that part does best* but it might have equally high downsides to balance that out. So you're going to want to mix and match parts depending on whether you want a really fast sub or a sub that can hit a lot of sectors in one trip or a sub that gets large stacks of loot that's stackable (crafting mats) or a sub with a really good shot at getting rare items.

Thanks for the tip. I've been playing around with the ship builders and I see combinations that possibly give negative values for some stats like Range or Speed. What happens if you make a sub with those stats?
They default to a value of 1. It's clamped so you can't go to zero or below.
If you replace the Syldra Hull with a Coelacanth Hull, you'll have maxed out Hauling-type CSySySy boat. Those are very fuel efficient.
Nope! Lol.

Ok that's good to know. Can a sub with a range of 1 even go on an expedition? lol
