I think I'm coming to the conclusion that Favor is ultimately what determines if you get multiple hits on the same node. As a test, I had two different types of ship builds hit Deep-Sea Site 7 (with both having similar ratings and similar weather conditions):
12x Fire Clusters and 2x Tempered Glass found in Deep-Sea Site 7 (W). Shiptype CCSyC.
23x HQ Cassia Logs found in Deep-Sea Site 7 (W). Shiptype CWCC.
CCSyC is by far more consistent in hitting the same zone twice whereas CWCC very rarely does beyond a single hit. I don't believe Speed and Range help in any meaningful way beyond the initial voyage settings (much like component durability). From the looks of it, Surveillance is a value that directly influences what items and what quality will end up on the loot table, with a minimum requirement set for specific items. Retrieval is a granular stat that affects the amount of items acquired when an item is discovered (excluding high-value items where a single drop is only possible). Finally, Favor must be acting as a luck value where it affects the amount of anomalies a ship will be able to observe at a single location.
After cross-checking what I'm observing with my own ships, the voyages reported here, and the information gathered in the old Airship thread, my best guess for how stats work is as follows:
All of these stats are subject to RNG conditions layered on top and higher stats may not yield better results in every voyage. I'll continue testing and processing my own observations along with findings made here. If possible, having a shiptype listed along with the results of an extraction would greatly help the process of narrowing down the evidence.
- Surveillance: Influences which items drop from the loot table per sector (Rarer items have minimum requirements). May also influence the discovery of new sectors.
- Retrieval: Influences the extraction rate of a dropped item. Affected by weather effects.
- Speed: Influences the duration of a voyage.
- Range: Influences the distance a ship may travel during a voyage.
- Favor: Influences the number of anomalies detected at a single destination. May also influence weather conditions encountered.
