I thought retrieval only affected the yield of items? Ie whether you get single digits or double digits of any item type where multiples are possible? If it affects getting multiple different items from the same zone then ... asdsdfdgfg. Gotta build more submarine parts to fix.Your retrieval is too low. With high retrieval you can pull in multiple items from the same zone.
I'm convinced favor is junk. The other 4 stats add up to 80 for Shark, 85 for Unkiu, 90 for Whale, 95 for Coelacanth, and 100 for Syldra for every single piece, with a random number for favor. My guess is that it only affects if you get HQ or NQ of an item.
Also for favor I know there isn't proof but I thought the general consensus was that it might affect the odds of obtaining rare items?
From what I've seen and understood so far, Surveillance has a minimum requirement to put items on the loot table. Retrieval affects how many attempts you have on a zone and possibly the amount of materials you acquire. Favor affects the weather conditions and the quality of the items picked up.
I could be wrong on these, but that's what it seems like to me.
Based on that assumption would it be worth test a CSCS build for 180 Sur, with 80 gathering?
Its only 5 slower then the CWCC build that i see people using. I avoided due to the low speed, but if Gathering could add addtional items to the loot table, then RNG gets checked that many more times.
I have tried a new build, basically hitting up all the good spots at once. xD Coel-Coel-Syl-Syl. Hopefully that will get me something rare. http://prntscr.com/mlan9n It takes forever though! xD
I'm currently running two Kamacite farming Haulers, a 3-Node Boat, and a Speedboat build for my Submarines:
Hauler Type:
Currently running the CWWC build. It's taking about 3 days and 10 hours (which I'm rounding to 4 days for checkup) to make the journey between Flickering Dip to the Rimilala Shelf. Assuming I can procure my own Kamacite and don't intend to sell it (because they're still highly valued at the time of writing), I may upgrade these to CSySySy type hulls. The same journey will take a slightly longer time of 3 days and 19.3 hours (closer to my 4 day checkup) and should sport a large increase to Surveillance, Retrieval, and even Favor. With 95 range, it should hit 2 of the high-end nodes comfortably.
Route A: Flickering Dip (Y) > The Rimilala Shelf (V) (3 days, 19 hours, 19 minutes)
Route B: Sunken Vault (AD) > Stone Temple (AC) (4 days, 43 minutes)

3-Node Boat:
I'm still unsure if this ship is going to pan out as worthwhile, but I had the parts on hand to try it out. CWCC sports a large 175 Surveillance, a meager 40 Retrieval, and a high enough range to hit Deep-Sea Site 7, Rimilala Shelf, and Flickering Dip in a single run lasting 4 days and 2 hours (just over my 4 day checkup). Considering the drawbacks of attempting to gain Range by losing Retrieval, I may opt to turn this boat into another Hauler or Speedboat instead. A possible sidegrade I might consider depending on the Abroader Otter requirements would be a CUSyC build in order to increase the voyage speed by to 2 days and 21.6 hours (3 days checkup) to hit the nodes more often. If that Odder ends up being in the ballpark of a ridiculously high Surveillance, another build idea would be CWUSy that keeps 170 Surveillance and a small increase to 50 Retrieval at a loss of a Speed to 5 days, 7 minutes (5 days checkup).
Route A: Deep-Sea Site 7 (W) > The Rimilala Shelf (V) > Flickering Dip (Y)
Route B: Deep-Sea Site 7 (W) > Sunken Vault (AD) > Stone Temple (AC)

Speedboat:
I'm working on this design with the idea of hitting Deep-Sea Site 7 and a single end-game node in mind. My current build is a CUUU, but I feel it's hardly worth the mention due to the severe lack in the required Surveillance or Retrieval we're starting to figure we'll need (though it does sport a fast 100 Speed and 95 Range, working great for unlocking nodes on the cheap). Therefore, let me propose a different solution.
With the hopeful assumption that the Odder drops with a Surveillance rating equal to or less than 150, the CCSyC would be able to make a run from Deep-Sea Site 7 and a single end-game node (Stone Temple or Sunken Vault) in 2 days and 4 hours (just above a 2 day checkup). It also sports a decent 65 Retrieval and a large 140 Favor, possibly contributing a bit to the "luck" factor as well.
Route A: Deep-Sea Site 7 (W) > Sunken Vault (AD) (2 days, 2 hours, 24 minutes)
Route B: Deep-Sea Site 7 (W) > Stone Temple (AC) (2 days, 4 hours)
Route C: Sunken Vault (AD) > Stone Temple (AC) (2 days, 6 hours, 21 minutes)

110 Retrieval rates as poor for Ramiliea Shelf, so 80 won't be enough to make any difference in the 4.5 zones.Based on that assumption would it be worth test a CSCS build for 180 Sur, with 80 gathering?

I assume you thought I meant Coel,Shark,Coel,Shark. Do we have an agreed upon abbreviation for shark vs Syldra?
I was thinking about Coelacanth, Syldra, Colacanth, Syldra

I use Sh and Sy, but I knew what you meant, and it has 80 retrieval
I ran a WCCC build to The Ramiliea Shelf, which has 110 retrieval, and repeatedly received the "poor retrieval levels" message.
Is there even another option then? I cant imagine them releasing more submarine parts before Shadowbringers and to get over 110 retrieval your surveillance gets so low its not worth the trip. I assume its set high to keep the loot low overall.
Was your 110 retrieval during clear and calm seas still returning with "Poor Retrieval levels"?
Any one currently sending a C,SY,C,SY sub out on missions able to provide reports?
