A tale of two subs.

I checked in two subs, both CUUC build, both dispatched at exactly the same time (give or take a couple of minutes) to DSS7.

Sub 1 was at repair level 67/66/66/67 when launched, got a C rating, brought in 14 ice clusters (volcanic weather) and then an Abroader Otter (clear and calm on second anomaly), and the trip was rated "abysmal."

Sub 2 was at the same repair level, got an S rating, had clear weather for both stops, brought in one frosted glass and one Belah'dian glass, and the trip was rated "satisfactory."

The RNG is strong with this one.

I would not be surprised if the true drop percentiles come out to be closer to 5% increments (5,10,15,20,25,etc). SE has a habit of rounding their numbers in that regard. Furthermore, given the data presented and with the knowledge of the minimum stats required (140/0/0/39/105), it would be obvious then that the CUUC is the current king of farming Abroader Otters exclusively.

It's a good thing that the CCSyC and the CUUC as so interchangeable, then. Just about everybody has Unkiu parts laying around.

Also a further point that the Rating system is meaningless, lmao.

Out of curiosity I ran the same loot and weather analysis for my test runs on the Sunken Vault and the Wreck of Discovery I and I found the same absolute correlation between weather type and loot table.

Been trying to send my CSCC submersible to Deep-sea Site 7 for the otter minion. The last 5 times the ratings are C, and the log complains about "volcanic activity". Is the rating entirely RNG?

As for the build, I'm unsure as to what points to the minimum favor stat. Might need to build extra parts.

The ratings are meaningless. They're based on the amount of items you collect, but don't take into account the value of the actual item. It is and isn't RNG, but you can basically ignore it.

Volcanic Activity is a weather effect that shows up 50% of the time and drops items of lesser value. Clear and Calm has a 25% chance of occurring but, even then, the Abroader Otter is incredibly rare.

I can't quite tell whether you meant that you're using a Shark part or a Syldra part, but the Shark version of CSCC doesn't have decent enough stats to farm for the Abroader Otter. At 130 Surveillance, it's 10 points short from meeting the minimum requirements. 90 Favor is 15 points short on spawning second anomalies, so you'll only get one attempt per voyage.

If you want a simpler boat to attempt to farm it, try the CUUC fit to farm Deep-Sea Site 7 (W). On the other hand, you can also build a CCSyC if you want to travel to more destinations than that.

It's a Syldra part. The submersible has like 190 surveillance if I recall right, but it's missing some favor and our FC made a 4th submersible, but in the process we used our spare bow, so now I have no way to swap bows between subs. I think we'll make an Unkiu bow as you suggested.

The rating determines bonus exp when leveling, beyond that it's useless.

I am trying to build a fleet of 12-16 subs with CUUS build (170/30/95/120) for crafting materia 6 and Abroader Otter. so far so good.

I've now gotten two otters with the CUSC build, so that's another cheap sub build for those who are exclusively interested in farming for the minion. (S means Shark not Syldra!)
