For the blue/green crystal boules, it appears that 155 is the minimum surveillance to add them to the loot table. As AuricSeagard mentioned he's gotten plenty with CUYC, and in my experience I get plenty of purple but NO green/blue from CCYC (150 surv).

I have two CUUC doing daily missions to site 7 and every time they are getting double items. Unless something else effects weather conditions, the RNG for these pets is beyond steep.

I've put up the data for two runs of CUUC and CUSC subs (six runs each). I'm allowing the sub condition to degrade so that I can see what effect this has. I got three CSCFIFFE on my second anomalies in the first day (12 runs total) and a whopping 7 CSCFIFFE out of 12 runs on my second day. This MIGHT be due to allowing the sub condition to drop or it might be due to random bad luck; I'm going to keep letting the condition degrade for another couple of runs and see if this trend gets worse, in which case we'll have learned something.

It's still puzzling that even with subs starting at 100% I got three CSCFIFFEs. If there is some sort of HP stat that is affecting the odds of getting a successful second anomaly search, I wonder if it's based on the sub's initial stats somehow?? I noticed that the Shark parts were degrading slightly faster after one trip than the Unkiu parts -- maybe each set of parts has a "starting HP" value and if that's not high enough you get misses on the second anomaly even at 100% repairs, because just getting to DSS7 from base does some damage? The question then would become "What sets the sub's initial HP rating?"

I want to use one of our subs to farm Deep-red Clusters. I was wondering if anyone had advice in terms of Surveillance and Retrieval I should go for. I'm trying to make tons of Grade 3 wheels. Thanks for any tips!
I wasn't sure if I should have low Surveillance but high Retrieval, or if both are required high.

Deep-Red crystals are pretty easy to find. Check the tables for which sectors drop them, then pick a sector that's easy to get to and fit your ship out for high speed and retrieval. Take just enough range to get there and back. Take enough favor to make sure you get two hits each trip. You shouldn't need high surveillance.

Another option if you have the time is to do Diadem and purchase the deep red clusters with either the Brass or steel spoils. Get a few FC mates to help and its a pretty quick way to gather them up. Subs / airships are a bit unpredictable on their loot.

I went over my data collected so far, and while I haven't been able to establish anything with regard to second-anomaly failures ("CSCFIFFE") I think I have determined that the weather probabilities are 25% Clear & Calm, 25% Strong Currents, and 50% Volcanic.

I have been lurking about results from places like DS7 and such to get the otter and kamacite farming. Kind of unsure what build(s) I should upgrade to to farm otter/kamacite/wax, well when wanting to focus on one. All four are 50, but one set sits with full shark, two with full Unkiu. The only good one is a CCWC with 130 surv, 95 retrieval, 80 speed, 70 range, 115 favor. I have mats to make 4 Syldra parts, and was planning on CCSyC (150/65/80/90/140) but felt 65 retrieval would make for poor kamacite farming (but good for say, otter). Is there a well-rounded build I could go for? Could just upgrade 2 submarines with 2 Syldra parts instead of all four with one I guess. Know it's hard to say for certainty since a lot is just theorycrafting still.

Like Alien_gamer mentioned before, the CSySySy fit is the alternative to the CCSyC fit that's been mentioned before. It trades half of its Speed for a relatively decent boost to its Retrieval and a couple points in Range (helping with a few fringe-case routes). The obvious downside is the cost of the actual components themselves, but that should be made up fairly quickly with a few Kamacite farming runs. Definitely a good option for a top-tier hauling boat, though.
