I made a sub build/route planner. If you download the file and run it in excel, you'll need to "Enable Content," which is just a bunch of VBA scripts.

Wreckage of Discovery I
- star sapphires again

I've been seeing a few asks about the best builds to make. Since I've done the calculations for myself, I figured that I'd share what I have.
I based my calculations on how the airship stats were set up for end-game and came up with two significant builds that I have decided to call Surveillance and Retrieval.
The Surveillance build is the ship that you use to discover new areas. It maxes the surveillance, favor, and speed stats in that order of importance. Currently, the best parts to secure this build is a complete Unkui submarine. That is to say, Unkui bow, bridge, hull, and stern. In order to have enough build points to equip all of these pieces, your sub must be at least level 17.

Hi just wanted to point out that your ship pieces are miss-labeled. I checked the stat values and they are incorrect for the listed parts. If you want to make it correct, switch the place of stern and bridge.I've been seeing a few asks about the best builds to make. It was confusing for me, but your numbers are correct, only the label is wrong. So I hope you don't remake your whole spreadsheet. :P
Anyway, just wanted to help in case someone else got confused. Have a nice day.![]()

Ah, you're right. I do seem to have swapped the two part's stats. Thanks for the catch! An easy fix on the spreadsheet, though a more tedious fix when it comes to my calculations. Edit: Turns out it was an easy fix. Also fixed the images for the builds on the original posts in case anyone is using them or uses them in the future.

The Retrieval build is the ship you send out to retrieve items from each sector. Depending on how soon you want the items, the main stats will vary from build to build. However, the basic stats to max are retrieval, favor, and surveillance in that order of importance. Although there is speculation that the surveillance stat influences whether or not your ship will retrieve more than one item per sector, we're still not entirely sure what the surveillance stat actually accomplishes. Therefore, I currently have two potential builds for the Retrieval build. In order to have enough build points to equip either of these builds, your submarine must be at least level 25.
Build 1 - Max retrieval with good speed.
Whale Hull, Whale Bridge, Shark Bow, Unkui Stern.
Build 2 - Balanced build with an emphasis on retrieval.
Whale Hull, Whale Bridge, Unkui Bow, Unkui Stern.

There's a certain amount of surveillance needed to even get some of the good/rarer drops from sectors. It seems to be around the 90 mark. Would be nice if we got some hint messages for these sort of things, like "The mammets think they spotted something else in the area, but the submersible lacked the ability to survey the area further."

Yes, I had looked into it. But that number was for the end-game airships sectors, which were 5 stars each. So far, the highest level sector we can unlock for submarines is 3 stars, so I am assuming that we don't need 90 surveillance just yet. I could be wrong, though. There's a certain amount of surveillance needed to even get some of the good/rarer drops from sectors. It seems to be around the 90 mark. Edit: I too wish there was a message hinting at what stat/s we might need more of... *sigh*
