@Deepthunder -Wow! What set-up are you using to obtain so much variety and quantity?
Also, here's the materials for the Whale-class submersible...

Im using full whale. that trip was Offender's Rot (lightning and ice crystals)-> Mystic Basin (ferberite and savage aim3) -> Neolith Island (bamboo and fire crystal) -> Central Rimilala (deep-red clusters and raw celestines) -> Deep-sea 2 (competence 3). Whale keeps bringing in big hauls but there is always rng in it.

Out of curiosity, why did you go full whale? The stats on it aren't going to allow the subs to bring back any of the submersible only items (music scrolls, pets, special crafting mats) Unlike the airship parts the newer sub parts aren't direct upgrades.
Im fairly new to the whole airship/submarine system. I have heard of mixing of airship components, but i have little knowledge on the value of stats. So at least until now i have been satisfied with unlocking the new zones and listening for new info on what is from which zone. Im running a full shark and a full whale. Looking at stats in hindsight the shark seems like a good scout with its high surveillance and whale should be able to bring back big quantities with its high range and retrieval. Until we figure out the range requirements we have, it might be good to spam the new areas with shark and hope for huge hauls of choice loot with whale.
Both all shark (30) and all whale (25) have horrible surveillance. The now middle tier parts (Unkiu) really seem to have the best stats for snagging the rarer items and you can swap out a part with a shark/whale part to get the good stuff. Just be aware that airship parts are a direct upgrade each tier (but the part limit will require you to mix tiers), whereas with submersibles they seem to throw each tier's stats in a blender so you have to actually go through and calculate which parts to use. We don't have exact numbers on the surveillance needed for the rarer drops, but for subs I go for a high surveillance build. The bulk items all seem to be stuff the airships have been able to bring in so I don't see a point in designating subs to bring any of that back personally.Im fairly new to the whole airship/submarine system. Sorry, i think i mixed up the names. I did mean the second submarine version as the "scout". Ill do some part mixing when both subs are back home in couple days.
