Sub Route Planner has been updated:
Submersible route planner (Excel) 6.20

• 1st Sheet (Path) - Requires download (then right-click file > properties > check unblock) and enabling macros to be useful. You select up to 5 destinations, and it shows you the shortest range needed.
• 2nd Sheet (Builds) - Every possible build, filterable and sortable. Click the filter and sort in the header row to filter out builds that don't have enough range for your route, and sort speed or surveillance from high to low. Will show a voyage time for the route selected on the Path sheet.
• 3rd Sheet (Parts) - The various sub parts, there for formulas. You can use the "Include" column to remove parts you don't have from the possible builds on the Builds sheet.

I recently started working on submarines, and have a very simple question I just cannot find an answer to.
When starting, shark class parts are the only thing I have access to. In order to unlock other parts, I need to unlock submersible prototypes.

How can I actually do that? I know trading items is an option, however I intend to do it by finding everything I need.
As of now I unlocked my second submarine and am yet to find a single workshop item for buying submersible prototypes 2.
Basically I am stuck on shark parts because of this.

I checked loot tables to see where I can get balsa wood scraps and bamboo weaves from, however until now not even once have I seen one of those retrieved.

Am I doing something wrong? Is there anything I am missing, or is it really just that low of a chance to get anything related to buying new prototypes?

the prototypes designs are unlocked from the schematics board in the workshop. you will the need the items gained from sub ventures (or airship ones if you ever did those) to unlock the higher level parts.

the easiest way to get those is to trade for the items to unlock the schematics. they are not sell-able on the market board so you will have to put up a pf to trade for them or you can join the submarine discord and peruse the trade channels there.

if you insist on doing it yourself be warned it will take a lot longer as you will be subject to RNG of loot on return, provided you know where to send your subs to get them and that you have the proper stats to obtain them.

Since you want to get all the materials yourself, you may want to use your second submersible to farm the needed ones while the first continues to explore to unlock new sectors as fast as possible.

You may want to also invest in one airship to use until you have the 4th submersible slot unlocked. It can also collect a lot of the schematic materials you'll need early on so you get them faster.
