The post above yours shows the surv they had to get it, and yours exceeds that so it's fine. However, you don't meet the breakpoint on favor though for a double dip chance.

I apologize if this was mentioned at all before somewhere in the sea of pages.
I'm trying to understand submersibles and I know right now we could use the cocobolo lumber to unlock other workshop recipes like the submersible prototype VI. That said, I want to outfit my submarines to be able to retrieve the lumber and possibly other things. (such as minions). Atm, we currently have a full set of coelacanth-class Sub (image below:
Suggestions on a build that can work or is what I have decent enough?
South Zozo > Wreckage of Windwalker > Sea of Ash 1 (64 range)
Lone Glove > Coldtoe > Open Robe (88 range)
Build for:
Srv < 160 (to avoid rares)
Ret as high as possible
Speed as high as possible
Range 64/88
Fav 170ish (to double dip)
Looking to finally get into airships and submersibles seriously and have been looking over the threads and can't seem to find a good answer to this.
My Submersible is still using all Shark parts and is level 62. I'm looking to upgrade it and build additional subs and I know I can't just max out everything. What is a good or at least passable build for unlocking all of the sectors? I know RNG is involved as well.

Unlocking a sector is pure RNG, your stats don't matter for it. You can use shark parts all the way up to 80 if you wanted to.
The generic best build is C+U+Y+C+, so if you wanted to get a jump start you could craft yourself a CUYC sub then upgrade it to the augmented version at 80.
You can also join the FFXIV Submarine Builders discord server to talk with more people about subs.
May Hydaelyn stand between you and harm in all the dark places you must walk.

Can anyone suggest a good build and farming route for deep-red clusters? Trying to stockpile buffs for my FC going into EW. Thanks!
I am using an airship for deep-red clusters rather than a sub.
Look in the airship thread for routing or I will repost here later.
Edit: Sea of clouds sector 20, 17.
Build: The Frugal Freighter:
Hull: Invincible
Rigging: Bronco
Forecastle: Tatanora
Aftcastle: Tatanora
Survey: 120
Retrieve: 140
Speed: 50
Range: 84
Favor: 136

Deep Sea is probably your best bet, there are several builds that will get you 5 zones in under 48 hours.
W'Sh'W'W' looks pretty solid for the job; low surveillance, high retrieval, enough speed range and favor.
