I have played FF for many years, since the very first Final Fantasy I have loved these titles and when I saw FFXIV ARR I was awestruck.
But this time around I wanted to craft, amble around the landscape engage a few fates, mobs and generally complete quests. After a while I found I couldn't progress in the game without doing the dungeons, I couldn't get retainers, a mount or get access to high level gathering without completing them. I was disappointed, I usually spend my gaming life enjoying the ambiance and chatting with friends alas this was not to be.
I braved the dungeons to get to 50 but hated them, people were often rude and critical and I couldn't understand why SE wanted to force me to play this way, it is so contrived and predictable. I love fates, the non dungeon quests crafting and gathering but I am out of storage, not much really sells and there is nothing to do with the little gil one does make in the game.
I still log in, do a little mining, chat to the few people who are not grinding dungeons, but to get any further I am required to continue running dungeons so I can craft the best gear etc. I feel as though I am being forced to play their way, I have no choice and no option, there is no longer any room or reason for disciple of the land or hand to exist, please SE FF is a magical franchise not a formula and as such please add to what you have accomplished so far. Please take off the shackles that bind us to the dungeons and let us acquire out rewards through our crafting and gathering endeavors.
I don't want to take away from what people obviously enjoy, I am happy they like that aspect of the game It's just that I feel like a second class citizen in Hydaelyn and I would like this to change.
