Has anyone successfully tried to remove/replace a housing item that use to be destroyed upon removal? I want to replace a ceiling lamp I bought in the cash shop but don't want to risk losing it.

Just replaced our downstairs chandelier. It looked like it was just replacing it, but the old one went into my bags after confirming the change. It has "Binding" on it now, so no reselling'em or what not.![]()

That's great. I don't mind the bind as it is Mog Station purchases that I was concerned about losing. Thanks.
Yep I've replaced a bunch of exterior/interior things but I am sad to say they do not go into storage. I've got a lot of inventory problems so I'm kind of sad that I can't put these items in storage.
Just keep in mind that if you want to shuffle them around within your house, as I did, you need to have a dummy item to stick into them before you can switch them. You can get lanterns and wallpapers and floors cheap from the vendor though.

any "binding" item can be traded to other players but it requires you to allow another person decoration rights to your house. They just take the decoration down and put it in their bag, then they can use it on their house.
just an FYI in case you want to sell something or to be careful who you allow decoration access if you share your house.
Also note that if you are putting an item into a fresh purchased space, it will give you the default item back. Swapped the lamp in my new apartment, and ended up with the starter lamp in my bags. Kind of interesting.
Does this also extend to say changing a carbuncle house to a different house skin?
Yes, I took off my paissa skin and it was in my bag. However, you'll need each piece of the exterior if you plan to go default and not use another skin. So you'll need a door, a window, walls and a roof. No need for the gate, unless you want a nice gate.
