Frequent Periods Of Lagging

For the last few days, the game will all of the sudden begin to heavily lag as if there is an issue with my connection. I know it's not my internet connection, as things such as Skype, Netflix, and my browser don't suffer the same issue when it's happening. Messages send immediately, web pages open at normal speed, etc... Even when these programs are closed, the lag will continue.

If I relog or exit/reopen the game, the game plays perfectly fine again... Until maybe an hour or an hour and a half later when it begins to suddenly lag immensely again. If I try to wait this lag out, it never gets better. Nothing seems to trigger it either, it just happens out of the blue. Everything else in the game is fine, it just seems like FF alone struggles to find a good connection randomly.

I play on a PC, as well.

You will get the same copy paste from the team saying that you need to open ports, clear internet explorer caches and etc.

Then they will tell you to contact your ISP which obviously is not at fault since every other application/game runs fine.

It's on SE's end. And it started ever since they moved the servers to California.

Can you elaborate on the kind of issue you are having?

Please provide:

- Platform (PC, PS4, Mac)
- the nature of the latency
- Type of connection (wired or wireless)
- Other programs running while the game is playing (if any)
- Everything you have tried to resolve the issue

Please be aware that Final Fantasy XIV requires a more demanding connection than many other websites and applications. Additionally, your ISP may take you through a certain route to get you to the XIV server and a different route to other websites, meaning you might run into problems with one service but not another simply because of the path your internet chooses to get there.

-PC
-Latency going from a normal 50, suddenly to 500ms
-Wired
-Skype and Discord. Note I don't have calls going on as I'm gaming, I only use them to message. I sometimes use Chrome to look up something, but it isn't always up.
-Restarting the game always fixes the lag from a span of 20 minutes, up to maybe an hour. The lag then randomly returns, and does not end until I restart the game again.

It only began a few days ago, like a week at most. It's just weird how it's fine after a fresh restart, but a few minutes later it's back to connection issues.

While there looks to be a correlation between restarting the game and the lag, I'm not sure they are really connected. Have you tried resetting your router (by turning it off for ~10 minutes, disconnecting it from the computer, then reconnecting and turning it back on)?

Not on SE's end either. Probably another DDoS attack between you and game servers. I'm also seeing players confuse lag with FPS drops, whereas FPS drops cause a general stutter to the whole game (everything on screen) whereas lag can usually be where everything / player stops on your screen but you're still moving, or another player shooting (teleport-like) across your screen. Lag usually happens in spikes, not a constant hour long thing.

I'm almost 100% sure it's ddos attacks again. Ran a tracert when my ping jumped from 30 to 1650 and showed no bad routes to me. highest ping was 50 at one place in cali. Rest was below 30. And its not the router when don't even use one. Its direct line to my pc from dish and from cell tower its fiber optics.

nevermind, didn't read whole post. But the DDoS things are a constant and there's very little that can be done about them.
