The new Expanded Inventory View design

Just going to put my two gil out there but I really do not like the changes to the inventory menus for my character and retainers. I'll live with it 'cause there's no choice in the matter, and it's not something worth unsubscribing over. And why does the Key Items & Crystals tab need so many spaces? I've never had so many key items that I filled up more than two rows of slots.

I'm really not sure what they were thinking with this. I guess someone wanted symmetry at the cost of function?

I do like the symmetry of it.

I'd like it more if I could see all 4 sections in this symmetry instead of 2 at once
If they did that, keep the new grid but have all 4 sections visible, I would consider that a step up from pre-4.2 and I'd be singing its praises!

Please SE, my screen is big enough. Change expanded (or have 2 "expanded" options) to this please.

I spend a lot of time selling on the MB through my 6 retainers. It sucks having to tab back and forth constantly to see everything I have and what I want to sell, since I sell a wide variety of items scattered throughout my inventory. As suggested, give us another option to see all 4 pages.

It's just super annoying to not see everything at the first sight und to switch between the layers >.<

Its some half-assed attempt to fill out the "hidden" slots from the original inventory increase. Meanwhile it makes it look WORSE because it looks like they're taunting us with 70 empty slots for Key Items, which was always a gripe with the Expanded View pre-SB. There's likely not even 70 key Items in the entire game, much less that you can pile in all at once! If they want to have inventory tabs limited and not have overflow for how weird it looks (the 70 slots of Key Items) they NEED to merge it into 3 sets of 35 tabs and have two pages, with the second having Crystals and Key Items to fill it out, and in that order!

Page 1: 3x 35 sets of Inventory
Page 2: 1x 35 Inventory, 1x Crystals, 1x Key Items

Or, you know, add the Key Items to the CHARACTER PAGE or something else?

Knowing SE and their past explanations about inventory issues, I think that they did that change due to the chocobo saddlebag, and not just for aesthetical reasons. Pre-4.2 we could access at once the normal inventory, the armory, and one retainer. Now you would have to add there all the slots from the saddlebags, which means that they need to potentially load more items at the same time, which implies an increased server load (which is what they always complain about when talking about giving us more inventory space, not about the actual space that it would take on the database). So they probably reduced the amount of slots that can be seen at once to accomodate for those new ones.

I really hate the change too and I've been tired of the "server load" excuse for a long time already, but I guess that that's more than likely the explanation that they're going to give (if they ever do it).

Some retainers that had nothing but crafting mats are fine, I auto-sort them anyway... but I had specific layouts and organization to others which held all my token stuff like Deltascape, relic items, primal things, Alliance drops, etc. All absolutely squashed and bugged out now, and as someone else had said earlier, I am very OCD about organization. Thinking about having to redo all these retainers with arguably less room than before is giving me a headache.

Please at least give us an option to keep it the old way, if only for retainer display. Good gods this was a terrible change.

The key items part is pretty strange. Like, have the max amounts of quests up, a wonderous tails, all of your hunt bills, the books/lists from the relic quests, and the compass and I think you might've been 3/4's full on the old one. The only things that have a potential to build up are seasonal key items but those are deleted if you abandon the quest and you can only do so many quests at a time.

They could do a compromis version:
- small (1 block for each per page; all in all 4 pages) [current "small"]
- middle (2 blocks for each per page; all in all 2 pages) [current "big"]
- big (4 blocks for each per page; all in all 1 page) [old "big"]
