As person who had over 100 items in personal inventory (and thus whose inventory flowed to another tab even in Expanded mode), I feel no difference. Only people who had 100 items in inventory or less would notice it.On expanded inventory view, we used to see 100 slots (4x25), now we only see 70 (2x35). So we're seeing less than before with the expanded inventory.
EDIT: Let me add, before we got the 40 new inventory slots in SB, that meant we could see ALL our personal inventory in one go. The tabs were for "Inventory", and "Key items and crystals" only. Really helped me get a birds-eye view of my inventory at all times.
So...That's what you get for not hoarding :P
I don't like either. It looks horrible in my option. I don't mind seeing less items but the whole box itself just looks bad.
"Everyone has something they hold dear, something they never want to lose. That's why they pretend. That's why they hide the truth. And that's why they lie."
Wow. This is objectively worse in every way. The expanded inventory shows less... They merged bags not giving a care to how everyone had items previously sorted. Thanks for screwing that up by the way. THERE WAS NOTHING WRONG WITH THE OLD EXPANDED VIEW. Is this SE's subtle way of saying piss off we are not expanding the bags any more since they shrunk it and removed any possible extra space the new-ish 140 limit gave us? They should have just put the chocobo bags to fill out the last 60 slots and make it a even 200 slots. In the old expanded view that would be a nice 2 pages with 8 neat bags split up for sorting. Also why do we still have 3 FULL bag slots for key items? It's literally impossible to fill up even 1 of the old bags at one time. I would be impressed if someone was able to take 30 different questions with key items and actually do so. It's not like actual key items that the players even stock up go to that bag. Primal tokens, raid books, 24man things? Anyone?
Then we have retainer inventory pages. Instead of a nice two large expanded pages we have 3 shrunk ones? Why? Did everyone suddenly revert to early 2000's monitor size overnight?
The new inventory layout is complete garbage that nobody asked for. Do the devs actually talk to people that play the game on a day to day basis before making crazy decisions like this? Giving us a less functional UI than we have been using for years is unacceptable.
Revert the inventory back to how it was or give us a complete unified single pane inventory.
Theres a thread on this in the UI interface section already.
This is my most hated feature of the patch so far. Really grates on me in ways I cant express. Such a minor thing I know but its a huge deal to me tbh. Especially when you consider the fact that we have the option for "expanded". But this is more of a middle ground between the "expanded" that we had and the "normal" that is now. -__-;
Please revert expanded inventory to its original state.

This is complete garbage and I hate it! Did SE not think that players may have used the old sections for organizational purposes? I had my pelts here, my ingots in this one, etc. My entire inventory and my retainer inventories have to be both re-organized and I lose a lot of the functionality the old sections gave. Now I have to artificially divide a single section so I can have my crafting items in some facsimile of organization.
While I don't like this modification.. it's possible they did it because people were misinterpreting the gui space left under the old system were slots that they just didn't "activate" and wanted a better representation of what your inventory was without giving some sort of weird false hope that these "unactivated" inventory spaces would someday become active. I know I saw some people actually post in this forum about how SE was stingy because the space was RIGHT THERE and they were withholding it from us.
No I don't like it. But I can see why it was possibly done.

when I first started I asked around how we unlocked those last slots. so yeah, I can definitely see that.While I don't like this modification.. it's possible they did it because people were misinterpreting the gui space left under the old system were slots that they just didn't "activate" and wanted a better representation of what your inventory was without giving some sort of weird false hope that these "unactivated" inventory spaces would someday become active. That still doesn't excuse not just continuing to display 4 sections on Expanded view, and just have the sections be larger. I don't care if it takes up more room. I do care that I lost the ability to see 30 entire slots at once.While I don't like this modification.. it's possible they did it because people were misinterpreting the gui space left under the old system were slots that they just didn't "activate" and wanted a better representation of what your inventory was without giving some sort of weird false hope that these "unactivated" inventory spaces would someday become active. I'm not apologizing for them, I don't like the new window either. Just trying to figure out WHY. Gimme back my old window, I don't mind it being off.
