    Having experimented with it a bit, I've realised that it's not counted as part of the inventory space - you can store a 'unique' item in there and then add a second one to your inventory. (So, another place to stash phoenix downs - and also useful if you want to put some quest reward costume pieces into your glamour dresser but don't want to lose the actual item, as I did for a certain sentimental one. Put the original in the saddlebag, bought and converted a replica.)

    Anyway if it's separate enough that the game can't tell you're doubling up on unique items, then I'm not surprised if it's impossible to make it display on the inventory menu tab, as nice and sensible as it would seem.

    Also treasure maps.

    Personal opinion, I kinda like the new expanded layout. For me, the old layout was just a bit too big. I understand the complaints that it doesn't show everything, for the players that preferred to see everything. But I like the look, and it's still as much as I ever need to see at any one time.

    Good reason to just give people the option to decide how they want their inventory displayed rather than deciding for everybody.

    No reason to remove the current look, since it's implemented and working. However as long as they stay with the 5x7 grids, making additional look that shows 4 of them at a time shouldn't break it as it is now for those who like it.

    Unpopular opinion but I really like the new layout. Those locked blocks were annoying me.
    They said they will give us the option for one big window in the future so this may remedy those who like the big layouts.

    Sooo....

    I don't know about you guys but I would be happy if they pulled development off things like performance, glamour's, hairstyles, cash shop items housing items for a while to actually sit and rebuild the code for inventory correctly as they can't keep trying to put the square block in a round hole band aids only work for so long.

    The whole point of rebuilding 1.0 to 2.0 was to get rid of terrible coding but its starting to sound like they kept a lot of 1.0 code in the game still to that I say this is why you don't cut corners to save time because it always bites you in the backside at some point.

    I mean its great they adding all this stuff but only way to make it in the game as a crafter is to pay real money for a retainer or 6 because of a flawed inventory system.

    I don't think that there are any codes from 1.0 in ARR. You don't just copy codes 1:1 from one system to another.
    Designes? yes
    Ideas? yes
    Decisions? yes
    Codes? no

    It is a rebuild, not an overwrite. Not even the engine is the same.

    I'm not so sure about that. Based on the glimpses SE has given us into the horrors of the spaghetti code that they seem to be working with I would say it's likely they're possibly working with some old 1.0 code. Either that or when they re-vamped they hired super craptastic coders and did things fast instead of right. :/

    This reminds me of when they changed the hotbar cool down animation. People had a cow when it was changed and people screamed for an option to keep the old-style cool downs. SE gave a response about the technical reasons why they couldn't provide an option for the old method. People continued to complain for a short while until they became accustom to the new style, realized it was indeed an improvement, and moved on.

    The same thing now with the inventory UI change. Why should SE provide an option for the old inventory when it's more flawed then the new? It displays 30 more slots in the first tab but it still doesn't display all slots in one tab. That's what people want. Not the old inventory. If SE's going to provide a third option, then that's what it should be. To display everything in one tab. And that's not what the old inventory did.

    Honestly? I'd be fine if they took a full patch and dedicated it to server improvements. It's what the game needs. That's usually their go-to excuse for not doing something, so why not eliminate it entirely? There shouldn't be too many limits on what they can do.
