Fullscreen goes black momentarily when I click back to it on a dual monitor setup.

I recently got a dual monitor setup for the sake of being able to keep my web browser on one monitor while I play on the other in full screen mode.

It working fine for a time, but as of recently, whenever I click back to XIV after interacting with a window on the second monitor, it goes black for a moment as though it's being unminimized, despite that not being the case.

I have no recollection of doing much of anything in particular before this started happening, and while I was able to get around it by playing in borderless windowed fullscreen, there's a small, but noticeable drop in FPS from it at times that's bugging me.

Good morning and thank you for posting on the Final Fantasy XIV Technical Support Forums.

The 'unminimized' effect probably comes from the fact that the fullscreen game is no longer in focus (when you are interacting with the second monitor). How long does it go back when you reselect Final Fantasy XIV?

What do you do to get back into the game? Do you simply click on the correct screen or do you use Alt+Tab?

We hope we can be of assistance in helping you enjoy the exciting world of Final Fantasy XIV!

I just click, and it only goes black for maybe a second or two.

It's strange because it initially wasn't doing this and I was able to click between screens without causing this to happen.

That is completely normal and isn't the game's fault. It's your system that is created to behave like this. Borderless windowed is the only option if you want to constantly switch back and forth. The only interaction that is possible on full screen is scrolling up and down with the mouse wheel since that isn't actually interacting with the application.
